Personally, I believe 'spreading democracy' has been a disaster for this country. It cannot be done with blunt force.

It worked in Japan and Germany, but not much of anywhere else. But then, we made sure the enemy was totally defeated before even trying to make nice which we have not done since then.

We utterly destroyed Japan and Germany and killed as many Japanese and Germans as we possibly could by every means we had and any means we could invent.

If we’re willing to do that again, maybe.

It worked pretty slick in the ROK ..... and it was working in Iraq, too, until Jug-Ears jerked the sawhorses out from under them (because they were winning -- Jug-Ears couldn't stand it if a bunch of historians got together 45 years from now and concluded that Bush's gamble and his meeting Saddam's/the Chinese's bump-and-raise had actually worked and that we had won the Iraq War.
