kristinn, I read somewhere there was a flight engineer on-board that night. Don’t have a link.
My prediction:
Captain stabbed the co-pilot, went nuts and crashed the plane into the Indian ocean.
Very good ... we’re getting more details all the time that show this was an exquisitely and impeccably planned event.
So it was the Captain, with a computer, in the cockpit is my “Clue” answer. But where’s the plane?
Oh great, now the TSA will ban laptops on planes.
most likely = hell, if we know!
More details than what was on Kelly tonight on FOX
Sounds like some idiot reporter learned of the Flight Management System and just wanted to sound smart by using it in an article.
Here is my question(If anyone here knows the answer that would be great) let’s say just for the sake of argument, that there was some catastrophic mechanical failure event taking place on the plane..would putting in this flight path on the computer make sense..or would the pilot just take the plane off of auto pilot and start flying back to an airport, any airport in the immediate area? I think it would be the most interesting to know WHEN the Pre-programmed U-Turn was programmed, BEFORE the flight or AFTER the flight was in the air..if it was before the plane ever took off that is the big game changer
I would love to know how they know this.
Seems to me I heard this a day or two ago. Maybe it was speculation at that time. Hard to keep track.
The first thing (of any kind) that disappears is never found. That’s how stuff works. By the third or fourth disappearance, the authorities and international experts will have figured out the whole mystery, you’ll see. Patience.
Bugs. There are many computer professionals on this forum. Ask anyone of us if there exists a computer program without bugs. Axe me. How many computer programs run a modern Boeing 777 jet? How many lines of code? How many bugs do they have? Hundreds or thousands? At least. Think about it next time you board a modern jet airplane. Think about blue screens - Microsoft doesn’t have a monopoly on them. (Yet.) Program bugs could of diverted this aircraft to La la land, I think.
Drip, drip, drip. The information comes out ever so slowly.
The whole event took place ten days ago.
Obviously our government knows what happened, and multiple governments are in a panic over what to do. This incessant drip of “news” only buys time until the gravity of this event can be reacted to.
I have a question about flight operations. Can someone who is knowledgeable answer this?
When a plane appears on air traffic control radar, there is a little identifying number next to the green blip. This number indicates the airline and flight number or type, doesn’t it? The air traffic controllers can tell from this number the type of plane they’re dealing with, can’t they?
Is it possible to in some way change this number, and thus change the identification of the plane to something innocuous?
If it’s possible to change this number, then the hijacked plane could have flown at very low altitude to hide from radar, and when it crossed over land and came in contact with some city’s air traffic control, it would show up as something normal in the ordinary air routes, transiting the region on its way to a fake destination. If the Malaysia plane shows up on the New Delhi radar as (let us say) Japan Air Lines flight 5527, then surely New Delhi air traffic control will just say, “JAL 5527 heavy, proceed on course 174 at 38000,” or whatever they say. So the Malaysian plane is in disguise and is crossing Indian airspace on its way to Jihadistan without having Indian F-18s go up to check it out. It looks legit.
Is any of this possible?
Is this possible?
Looks like whoever did this wanted to kill everybody else first. One can program quietly while others sleep. Put the plane in a neutral turn. Put on oxygen, set the plane into a climb, and voila.
Get the other pilot out of the cockpit, program your disappearance flight, depressurize the plane, don’t put your own mask on...
Everyone dies, the plane flies the disappearance route until the engines quit.
The recorders over write the first part of the flight.
You’ve disappeared, and left nothing for investigators, even if they do find the plane.
Should we be very concerned about activities in Russia (while every network is trying to keep us totally focused on this missing flight)?
Maybe not, but seems like a good time for Obama to — do more after he’s elected — as he told Putin.
Just wondering...
Since this could be state sponsored then yes, it could have been hacked.
