The day before the Iowa caucuses in 2008, I wrote about the massive crowds of young people at Barack Obama rallies, noting that his candidacy would collapse if they dont show up.
The next night, after Obamas victory celebration in Des Moines, Obama strategist Steve Hildebrand spotted me in a crowd. The kids showed up! he said fiercely.
They did. But where are they now?
An army of 15 million voters under 30 swept Obama past Hillary Clinton and John McCain and to the presidency in 2008. More than 12 million helped him return in 2012. But now his presidency is on the line and the Obama youth are abandoning him in his hour of need.
The administration announced last week that only 1.08 million people ages 18 to 34 had signed up for Obamacare by the end of February, or about 25 percent of total enrollees. If the proportion doesnt improve significantly, the result likely will be fatal for the Affordable Care Act.

Asking them to pay money to join a health-care exchange, it seems, is too tall an order

This “Dana” is a man.
Why? Probably because they moved on to the next fad, whatever that is.
That's what "knuckleheads" do, right?
And then, it's "Hello, single-payer!" (Or, remind me when Congress ever voted to abolish one of their socialist programs.)
Yeah, by now, this stuff pretty much writes itself.
Why? You just can’t trust 13 year olds!
Thank you for that correction
He’s an idiot. He is a Yale university graduate and doesn’t have the sense to know that BO is getting rejected by an entire group of people because of a flaw in the character of the individuals of the group of millions?
Does he mean to say that their universities have not done as good of a job as his alma mater in dumbing them down to Bo’s level, accepting destruction of their economy, health care, and cultural institutions?
Ugh
They are now disillusioned, unemployed, jaded and broke............................
....... and a 'PART OF THE HISTORY' they voted for.
Oh, boy.
Here’s what I meant to say:
He is a Yale university graduate and is stating that BO is getting rejected by an entire group of people because of a flaw in the character of the individuals, and not because of a flaw in BO?
Bingo!
If Dana Milbank wants to ponder why hes losing the millennials, he should take a look at that. When my students and I were passing time one day, looking through you tube, waiting for the bell to ring, after wed seen some great movie, I dont know, Cool Hand Luke or Hud, or a Buster Keaton short, they asked me to go to Obama saying there were 57 states. THey laughed, but resent that they had this idiot foisted on them who couldnt pass a fifth grade American History tenet.
Oy
They already voted for him in both elections, and he can’t run for a third term, so it’s not possible for them to “abandon” him.
Who's asking?
It's a mandate.
Maybe because they are actually smart enough to figure out when they’ve been lied to. They were told it would be free and by the way weed is OK too. I think the smoke is clearing the munchies are kicking in and there isn’t enough money for Taco Bells. Now they’re hungry, paranoid, and broke.
WHAT hour of need? He doesn’t have to - in fact, can’t - run again. He’s got that flexibility now because they showed up in ‘12 (and because conservatives stayed home). He doesn’t need them now. They’ve been used and discarded.
Might as well make her a black lesbian, too; and get it all out of their system!
Thank you; schools of America!!
He’s bad because he’s half WHITE; you bozos!!
