President Obama warned Vladimir Putin of "additional costs" for Russia after a weekend referendum to separate Crimea from the Ukraine went forward.
In a phone call between the leaders on Sunday, Obama told the Russian president that the U.S. and its allies were "prepared to impose additional costs on Russia for its actions."
And the U.S. signaled it could act as soon as Monday to impose sanctions against Russia for its incursion into Crimea, and for conducting the referendum while occupying troops were in place. The referendum to break Crimea away from Ukraine and make it a part of Russia reportedly passed overwhelmingly although the U.S. and other Western nations have rejected the legitimacy of the vote.

This statement is nothing but show. Remember, he told Putin he’d have more flexibility.
And frankly, I’m against any involvement. When Obama and so-called conservative senators agree, it can’t be good for America.
He punished Russia—Russia will punish us! What can he do? To start:
1. Cut off supplies to our troops in Kabul who use Russian roads.
2. Keep our people off the International Space Station.
3. Demand Gold for all the bill we owe him
4. Help Iran with nukes.
5. Cyber Attacks on the USA.
6. Put rockets in Cuba.
7. Put the scews on western Europe.
8. Terrorized the USA by funding Islamic people.
9. Work with China to gain islands in the South China Sea.
10. Much more—maybe leak files on Obama/Kerry? Hillary?

This is a complete foreign policy failure. Absolute indifference, incompetence. Almost seems intentional.
I think it will end up the other way around.
Obama’s rhetoric could be construed as ‘sabre-rattling’
if Obama had a sabre.
He doesn’t even have a laser. But he proudly proclaims he has a pen and knows how to use it.
If I was Putin, I was probably dying of laughter hearing Obama on the phone. Let’s see what his “sanctions” really amount to and while the West foams at the mouth in utter impotence, Russians have never felt prouder or stood more tall. And I can imagine Putin telling Obama, “bring it on.” And if sanctions really were a deterrent, Russia would have backed down long before holding the referendum in Crimea.
I wonder if, at some point, Obama tried to play the race card? Is he dumb enough to think Putin actually cares? Obama, and those around him, are no doubt clueless how to deal with a real leader who puts the interests of his country first....someone who doesn’t cave in response to bad press or accusations of racism or homophobia.
