Nice try. Won’t work. The Chinese don’t vote. That’s where jury duty is picked.

“Will the Chinese give up minority business set asides?”

If that wasn’t </sarc>...

Do you really think that they actually get any of these? They aren’t the “right kind”.

Asians are 11% of California and blacks are at 5% so they are outnumbered on affirmative action.

*****Asians mean anywhere from China to Burma to Philippines to Pakistan

The Bell Curve uses pure data that demonstrates that Asians are the left of the curve, Caucasians next, Latinos next and the affirmative action races to the right when discussing intelligence. Liberals begin to have petite mal seizures leading to grande mal seizures when discussing this phenomenal publication. I don't understand why race baiters are so upset about the findings because everyone sits behind the Asians when discussing average intelligence.

Assuming you are not being sarcastic, yes, they are considered a minority. For example here in VA:

From theVirginia Department of Minority Business Enterprise

"What is the definition of Minority Individual? "Minority individual" means an individual who is a citizen of the United States or legal resident alien and who satisfies one or more of the following definitions:

1. "African American" means a person having origins in any of the original peoples of Africa and who is regarded as such by the community of which this person claims to be a part.

2. "Asian American" means a person having origins in any of the original peoples of the Far East, Southeast Asia, the Indian subcontinent, or the Pacific Islands, including but not limited to Japan, China, Vietnam, Samoa, Laos, Cambodia, Taiwan, Northern Mariana, the Philippines, a U.S. territory of the Pacific, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, or Sri Lanka and who is regarded as such by the community of which this person claims to be a part.

3. "Hispanic American" means a person having origins in any of the Spanish-speaking peoples of Mexico, South or Central America, or the Caribbean Islands or other Spanish or Portuguese cultures and who is regarded as such by the community of which this person claims to be a part.

4. "Native American" means a person having origins in any of the original peoples of North America and who is regarded as such by the community of which this person claims to be a part or who is recognized by a tribal organization.

The Federal government considers Chinese-Americans a minority. From the Small Business Administration.

Some minority groups are presumed to be socially and economically disadvantaged and can qualify for the 8(a) program. These groups include: African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Native Americans, Asian Pacific Americans and Subcontinent Asian Americans. Individuals who are not members of one or more of these groups can be considered for the 8(a) program, but they must provide substantial evidence and documentation that demonstrates that they have been subjected to bias or discrimination and are economically disadvantaged. Firms owned by Alaska Native Corporations, Indian Tribes, Native Hawaiian Organizations and Community Development Corporations can also apply to the program

I am really surprised that you are not unaware of minority business set asides and who is considered a minority. The only group that does not get preferential treatment is non-Hispanic white males.

What is an ethnic minority?

An ethnic minority is an individual whose origin or heritage is of or from:

any of the Black racial groups of Sub-Sahara Africa (African-Americans)

any of the Spanish speaking countries of Latin America, Mexico, Central America, South America, the Caribbean and Brazil (Afro-Brazilian and Brazilian Indians only) (Hispanic-Americans)

American Indian, Eskimo, Aleut or Native Hawaiian (Native Americans). Native Americans must be documented members of a North American tribe, band or organized group of native people indigenous to the continental U.S.

Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Guam, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Samoa, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, the U.S. Trust Territories of the Pacific or the Northern Marianas and Vietnam. (Asian Americans, Pacific Islanders, Asian Indian Americans)

What groups are not considered ethnic minorities?

Individuals whose origins or heritage are of or from:

Iberian Peninsula (Spain, Portugal)
Asia Minor Region (Peninsula between the Black Sea and the Mediterranean)
Persian Gulf (Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, etc.)
Europe
Northern Africa (Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Algeria, etc.)

What is MBE Certification?

Process that a business enterprise claiming to be a minority-owned business must undergo to verify the company’s 51% ownership by a minority or group of minorities that are US-citizens, and owned, managed and operated on a daily basis by the minority of group or minority owners.

What is the practical purpose of MBE certification?

Although MBE certification does not entitle or guarantee your company will receive any corporate or government contracts, MBE certification is a marketing tool that can help your business better compete for contracts in both the private and public sectors. Major corporations include supplier diversity as a core business strategy, and use certification as a tool to validate and hire qualified minority businesses. Supplier diversity programs require valid MBE certification to receive credit toward supplier diversity goals. Plus, the federal government has a requirement that a minimum of 23% of total acquisition dollars (estimated at the trillions of dollars) are ‘set aside’ and must be spent with diverse businesses. To help reach this 23% goal, the federal government has special stipulations in place that help certified MBEs compete for contracts with the federal government.

Almost all my relatives, Americans of Chinese descent, on the West Coast are Right Wing, Gun Loving, Conservatives, just like me, here in Michigan.

Did you know Asians(Chinese descent)are not considered a minority for entrance in many US universities.

Get rid of Affirmative Action.

Yes. Even 30 years ago, Orientals ie Chinese, Japanese, Korean, were considered “over-represented” and therefore, despite being a small minority demographically, were not a minority and subject to exclusion.

proposed California constitutional amendment that would reinstate affirmative action in public universities

I guess those in favor of racial discrimination can claim legitimacy if they win, but what does it really matter? Californians passed a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage but a judge declared the constitutional amendment to be unconstitutional. Regardless of how the vote comes out, the Democrats will have their racial discrimination back before too long.

I've got an idea.

Why don't we open the borders to 19 million illegal Chinese ( we'll call them 'dreamers') IF they agree to vote Republican.

When Democrats object to us padding our vote we'll call them xenophobes.

I wonder if the effing New York Times would 'catch on' if we tried this... They haven't caught on to the dems in all these years...

I recall a story when Reagan was governor of California, he was urged to impose racial quotas because he was told there was a risk of Asian students getting the lions share of slots, based on merit.

Reagan’s response was, “So?”

Well, if they start voting Republican they’ll lose that minority status. Those give-a-ways are set up to buy votes for democrats.

Many overseas students pay full list price (often aided by their home governments). US Universities love them so much, they’re a profit center unto themselves.
