“. . . you don’t know how lucky you are, boy . . .”
I cannot help but ask a question — what if in the future, the vast majority of a California city decide to join Mexico? Will the USA let it?
It might be tempting to get it off our back that way.
The tribe has spoken.
Why do you think we’re downsizing our military?
What are the ODDS that Russias media is as controlled as our own?.. (or more)
Meaning polls will say whatever the oligarchs want it to say..
You know............................. like ours..
“Back in the USSR” I’d wondered what that was talking about exactly because AFAIK nobody had left the USSR only to rejoin, when that song was published. But it looks like the Bear has just grabbed Crimea into the Russian Federation. Whatever that means.
Bienvenidos a la Alta California?
The Devil you say, satan!
“I cannot help but ask a question what if in the future, the vast majority of a California city decide to join Mexico? Will the USA let it?”
That is exactly the issue, and the reason diversity and the failure to assimilate is such a bad idea. Liberals, with their insistence on keeping groups separate and identifiable have set us up for real problems.
Look up “The Conch Rebellion.” Key West succeeded from the union and declared independence. The US government set up a customs station and harried the heck out of people going both ways as if it were a border, making it a several hour affair in the hot sun. They also cut off power and water until Key West decided they had made a mistake.
I was astonished at how seriously the government took that bunch of bozos and at the hardball the government played.
You mean after Putin took them over last December?
The US and other western countries have supported very similar secessionist movements in many other places, making it more than a little difficult to take a principled stand against this one.
Example: Kossovo.
Crimea, historically, is less a province of Ukraine than Tibet is of China.
Another example of chickens coming home to roost.
If you’ve ever seen Los Angeles County..it already IS Mexico
Well yeah if you want to be not part of Florida then you got to live with it. That’s survivable if you are a heavy commerce center like Singapore. Not for kicked back Key West.
“Unexpected?”
Crimea was supposedly ceded to Ukraine. But it would not be surprising if the Bear had actually wanted Ukraine to modernize it at the Ukraine’s expense, then pull a grab like right now.
I’ve heard that Crimea has also voted to change their name to “East Kosovo.”
Won’t happen. Vast majority of Mexico origin Californians escaped from Mexico. Why would they vote to join Mexico?
