SEATTLE Kshama Sawant said she needs to see progress on a $15 per hour minimum wage soon, or she and her supporters will move ahead without the help of her fellow city council members and the mayor. She said if there is not significant progress soon she will start collecting signatures to put a minimum wage measure on the ballot. Sawant said signatures are due June 10.
The socialist council member is holding a rally this coming Saturday where she will lay out her latest plan of action moving forward.

Precisely. Activists are in the minority pretty much by definition even if they tend to have the biggest microphones. It leads to the mistaken assumption that all that noise means something. A few years ago gun control activists tried this "can't miss" approach in putting their programs to a vote in Washington State in Initiative 676. It got stomped 5-2 even in liberal Seattle.
As a relative guage of Sawant’s wisdom, she was the local Socialist council member who earlier this year told the Boeing union workers that they should turn down the company’s contract offers, forcibly take over the Boeing factories, and convert the “machines” to making things like buses rather than “weapons of war” (like your average airliner). Now she wants everyone to take her advice on minimum wage. Why not?

It is sobering to realize that this fool taught economics at Seattle Central Community College. Her students should file an educational malpractice suit. I have heard this woman be interviewed; there is no doubt she is a fool beyond description.
She should make her petition demand $50 an hour. Who wouldn't sign up for that?
$50,000 @ year! so that one wage earner can provide a “living wage” for a family of 4. Wait ... that is $30 @ hr.
