I would add George Will to your Fox Sunday list, with Chris Wallace as moderator. Today good ole boy George quoted as sources both James Carville and Hillary Clinton in one segment. Thanks George. Isn’t it time to hang it up? Really.

Maine sent thousands of its native sons to fight in the Civil War.

I’ve seen the recruiting posters they responded to, asking for volunteers to fight to end scourge of slavery.

I don’t care what the “experts” say the war was about. I know why those men went to fight.

Anything to this:
..... the realities of the Triple 777, in it has TRIPLE REDUNDANCY or there are three systems for each system on that aircraft in case the first one is inoperative.

Cotton taxes were a huge part of the Civil War as was the lack of railroad rails. Slavery was only a part of the reason the south fought.

Flake hasn't made much noise even with his amnesty pushing. http://www.washingtonpost.com/business/big-or-small-spending-cut-efforts-hit-roadblocks/2014/03/03/0faa2456-a2ad-11e3-b865-38b254d92063_story.html They say they fear Congress’ reversal on military pensions will lead to unraveling other recent spending cuts. “It’s tough to overstate how devastating that was,” said Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., one of just three senators who voted to keep the pension reduction in place. “It’s back to the drawing board, because that was a big blow.”

My guess is that any triple redundancy is limited to safty critical functions (flight control surfaces, primarily), and that many systems are not redundant at all (in-flight entertainment).

The powerplants aren't triple redundant, there are two engines. The aircraft can fly with one.

The triple redundncy relates to the fly-by-wire system:

The flight control system for the Boeing 777 airplane is a Fly-By-Wire (FBW) system. The FBW system must meet extremely high levels of functional integrity and availability. The heart of the FBW concept is the use of triple redundancy for all hardware resources: computing system, airplane electrical power, hydraulic power and communication path. The Primary Flight Computer (PFC) is the central computation element of the FBW system. The triple modular redundancy (TMR) concept also applies to the PFC architectural design. Further, the N-version dissimilarity issue is integrated to the TMR concept. The PFCs consist of three similar channels (of the same part number), and each channel contains three dissimilar computation lanes. The 777 program design is to select the ARINC 629 bus as the communication media for the FBW

Design Considerations in Boeing 777 Fly-By-Wire, is, I think, the full article. Geeky content; but interesting in that the triple redundancy is sometimes used to justify flying with one of the redundant systems being out of order. Allowing flight without all (redundant) systems in working order is by design intent. "Deferred maintenance."

Thanks very much. I really dont understand the significance of triple redundancy just thoght it looked relevant and I would pass it along to someone who actually knows what they are posting about which is not me.

I sort of got the gist that due to the triple redundancy the airplane could actually turn off some of the items it had and still funciotn, wild guess onmy part. And maybe still issue a signal picked up by someone somewhere.
Seems radar or satellites is one that comes to mind but if its out of radar range what then? Once again Mr. wild guesser here.

The point of redundancy is to be able to maintain control, even if one of the control systems fails. The tripe redundancy is applied to flight surfaces (ailerons, rudder parts, flaps, etc), but not necessarily to any particular mode of communication. I believe there is more than one radio, ore than one radar, etc. (pilot and co-pilot each have a full suite of information devices). I don’t think the sat-com is redundant, because that function isn’t critical to maintain flight control.

Cotton taxes were a huge part of the Civil War

Well up here, Joshua Chamberlain, the 20th Maine, the Battle of Gettysburg, Harriet Beecher Stowe (Uncle Tom's Cabin) and the underground railroad, are huge pieces of this state's history.

The cotton tax...not so much.

Rock, Maine did not secede from the Union.

There were significant economic pressures on southern states from the North and from Congress.

I think the revisionism is meant to “prove” that a war had to be fought to end slavery in this “evil” country.

The truth is that it was on its way out anyway, as Bray observed.

revisionism

Like I said, I saw the historic recruiting posters. That's why they joined up. Whatever the various politics of the Civil War...The Abolitionists lit the fuse.

Slavery is fought today in America to promote Marxism.

Do you realize most slaves never left their plantations after the war? The reason was, they were treated better than the White poor and had very high skilled jobs like carpentry etc.

Maine did not secede from the Union.

No, but they supplied a large portion of the troops, more than 70,000 volunteers.

Here is a very large collection of the "revisionism" most dating back to the 1860s.

Hi Robert, check out FReeper Robe’s post here (#9):

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3134178/posts?page=9#9

He explains how a Boeing 777 from Singapore Airlines was smack dap in the middle of the Straights of Mallacca when the Malaysian Air Force lost the radar image of MH370. The SA flight was going to Barcelona, Spain. The writer believes MH370 was right behind her until dropping off somewhere over Afghanistan / Turkmenistan.

Hey, Babylon. I am mostly off FREEP these days, but I wander on from time to time, and here you are—I recognize your name from way back. Do you have like 35 thousand postings at FREEP now of sthg?

I wish you a happy McCain, Lindsey Grahmnesty and Chuck Schumer to boot.
