U.S. officials announced plans Friday to relinquish federal government control over the administration of the Internet, a move likely to please international critics but alarm many business leaders and others who rely on smooth functioning of the Web.
Pressure to let go of the final vestiges of U.S. authority over the system of Web addresses and domain names that organize the Internet has been building for more than a decade and was supercharged by the backlash to revelations about National Security Agency surveillance last year.

The Internet was the salient example of FREE SPEECH in this world; we invented it, and now we're giving it up into the hands of, frankly, our enemies. The enemies of free speech.

O8’ was the kickoff in full view of the audiance when the monetary theft occured which rolled the world banks and markets.....so much revenue moving across the ocean it wasn’t funny.....With Obama in office , his treasonous wife, just a matter of positioning more creeps into his administration to facilitate it all..and it’s been easy for the powers that be to manipulate it all.
I’m just sick...they have precious time left to finish the job and moving at lightening speed....(pen and phone)...and congress can’t move fast enough to stop it....too late.
Once they control the Internet...they control it all...business, industry, banks, institutes, and private citizens. And our young people are primed to accept it as “good” for the “Citizen of the World”.
This should make us all shudder....

Whoever controls the Internet...controls the World’s Commerce and peoples lives...and be assured they will do just that.
I've always thought there would be another new invention to take the place of the ‘net eventually anyway. Can't imagine what it would be, but I never imagined the internet either. Others will do the inventing, and this “giving up control” might spur them on.
This is bad, very very bad. Obama is giving up more of our sovereignty than anyone before him. Get ready folks, our Internet may be gone forever, very soon.
Who has time for such strategic stuff when we’re trying to feed a bum class that is larger than the worker class?
Good ole amateur radio can carry digital stuff too.
I think the desire for bread and circuses will tend to keep the Internet up and running. It is one of those things you don’t stop unless you want riots. Not when half the world wants its fix of Facebook.
