Engine Data Suggest Malaysia Flight Was Airborne Long After Radar Disappearance, U.S. Investigators Say
Updated March 13, 2014 12:50 a.m. ET
U.S. investigators suspect that Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 stayed in the air for about four hours past the time it reached its last confirmed location, according to two people familiar with the details, raising the possibility that the plane could have flown on for hundreds of additional miles under conditions that remain murky.
Aviation investigators and national security officials believe the plane flew for a total of five hours...

Does the article say how they KNOW this information?
In 4hrs they could have flown nearly 2500 miles.
How do they know this? How can they know this? Unless they’re going off the Malaysian military radar. the transponder was switched off, so we have no idea if it blew up a minute later, or flew for hours.
If the plane did fly on for hours (and again, I don’t know how they could know this, since WSJ requires subscription), then the debris on the satellite image is a wild goose chase.
Sooooo where does that end them up??? Iran?
I read in another article on Fox News that they got this information from Boeing. Apparently the engines on the plane send data to Boeing electronically.
+4 hr @ 600 mi/hr -—> 1,000’s of miles.
At least someone has a modern tracking system.
The engine data is automatically being sent to Rolls Royce and Boeing.
I googled “Engine Data, Malaysia Flight” and saw lots of breaking news about the airline receiving data from the engines. There were a few stories that mentioned the 4 to 5 hours flying after vanishing in some of the sumaries but the ones I saw quoted the WSJ.
Investigators pursuing notion the 777 was diverted "with the intention of using it later for another purpose." http://on.wsj.com/1lYx08l #MH370
A flight time of four additional hours after the 777 disappeared means #MH370 could have flown on for about 2,200nm http://on.wsj.com/1lYx08l
How far is 2,200nm is from #MH370's last known location? That would get the 777 as far as the India-Pakistan border. http://on.wsj.com/1lYx08l
If it wasn't true, it would read like bad fiction.
My post on another thread three days ago:
My non-conspiracy theory is that of a similar fate to golfer Payne Stewarts private jet crash in 1999. They lost cabin pressure and all passed out, but the plane flew for 1500 more miles before crashing in North Dakota.
It was not known why they lost pressure, but it was surmised it was so fast they did not have time to put on 02 masks.
So maybe a small meteor or some space object hit the plane and it was suddenly depressurized but kept flying itself, out of radar range, somewhere in the Pacific, until crashing.
Well, then the debris is a red herring. The plane cannot have flown on for several hours, and the debris from a crash end up back in that place, unless they doubled back to the exact location. None of it makes sense.
I keep having the suspicion that the plane was stolen. But then there is the photo taken by a passenger in another plane that was nearby that looks like a plane on fire and also several people reported a huge noise - but not sure where that was in relation to where the plane ought to be.
I think it was taken...for the talented tech on board.
Who would want the smallest chip in the world manufacturing staff?
who can cloak?
who can refuel in air...cloaked.
who steals tech. without regret at the national level?
Sure is interesting.
Anyone have a line on exactly what they had?
Yeah. It would have helped if the Chinese had told Malaysia about the suspected debris sooner. When I saw those photos, I thought they’d found it. If the engines had run for another 4 hours, then, they went pretty far. Farther than what the map is showing. This is all so strange.
the debris is a red herring
Yup
Bump
“+4 hr @ 600 mi/hr -> 1,000s of miles.”
To stay below 18,000’ with the transponder off the airspeed would probably be under 300 mph.
If they were over 18,000 with no transponder would have set off ATC everywhere they flew and would have had intercepter jets after it.
Then why were the transponders off? Why did it disappear from radar?
