More “ACARS” info. here (Malaysian Airline System Bhd “opted-out” of real time data): http://www.themalaymailonline.com/malaysia/article/mas-to-opt-out-of-boeing-plan-to-share-jets-data

Really unlikely. Unlike Stewarts plane, multiple air crew, highly trained in scenarios like sudden decompression, and with plenty of time of useful counciousness unless they were flying at FL above 40k.
Plane also maneuvered with a heading and altitude change, not just continued on autopilot. Something stinks.

ACARS’s data is handled by private vendors, and they provide several different coverage options, with associated costs to the airlines depending on the amount of data. The Air France plane was doing automatic reports at regular intervals, reportedly Malaysian air was not. So, I’m not sure that this is ACARS data they’re referring to.

Have to think of what kind of big targets that would affect Americans in that general vicinity..if this is a hijacking and they are going to fuel the plane with nukes or something, have to think of the “Best” location to blow it up

The plane does not appear to have been cruising long enough to issue any more ACARS reports. It disappeared from radar at 1.30 AM local time, halfway between Malaysia and Vietnam over the Gulf of Thailand................

The article says nothing about ACARS, but reports that the information, sent every 30 minutes from the plane, revealed it's speed and altitude.

Either Islamists or China stole this aircraft with its passengers then. Far fetched as heck but anything is possible at this rate.

The 'lost cabin pressure' theory doesn't explain why or how the transponders were turned off.

Kinda scary to think the hijackers aren’t claiming responsibility because they might have a perfectly good aircraft with over 200 hostages and don’t want to ruin the next phase of their operation. Yikes.

Islamists, more likely and probably not even Iran. I’m thinking somewhere in Pakistan.

Exactly..I keep on hearing “Why hasn’t anyone taken responsibility” UH DUH, why ruin a perfect plan..it would be like a high school kid cheating on a test, getting away with it, standing up and announcing to the class “I cheated and this is how I did it” this plane is being held somewhere for the master plan, just dont know what it is yet

That is what struck me as important. Boeing would know the engine characteristics of when the plane landed.

If the airline opted out why are there reports that the plane flew at least 4 more hours? The reporting is a mess!

My brother in law works at Boeing - in fact one of their test pilots is a friend. I will find out about this tomorrow .....unless there is big news tonight.
