You know until just recently, I was like many other freepers dead set against marijuana, but since Colorado and Washington I decide to look intently into the issue, information on the history of cannabis, made me see how if it were not for gov’t control this issue would not even exist.

I had second thoughts on legalization when I realized the WODs caused as many, if not more problems that the drugs themselves.

I use this example:

Liquor stores are frequently robbed but rarely(if ever) are they held up to get liquor. However the robbers often hit these stores to get money to support their drug habits.

And they need to do this because their drug of choice is artifically high.

Why?

Because the government, by it's prohibition of the trade has driven it to the Black Market that then sets the price according to the risk the seller/buyer is willing to trade.

Drugs otherwise would be as cheap as untaxed liquor or cigarettes, plus the cost of production, transportation, etc.

Crime used to support their drug habit would go down. So fewer little old ladies would get beaten and robbed of their social security checks and less prisons cells filled.
