2 Tim 4:1-5: I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
It's impossible for a preacher to do his job and amass a congregation the size of the one we're discussing. If a preacher is truly doing his job (viz. rebuking, etc), it's likely he'll need to also be making tents, so to speak, to survive.
I don't even need to visit one of these "megachurches" to know they're not doing God's will. There's no way to keep from offending that large a number of people if you're preaching and rebuking as God commands.
And lest someone accuse me of being judgmental, the Lord commands us to honestly scrutinize others works. John 7:24: Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.
Excellent post. Thanks.
Joel has said that is not his ministry.
