Sen. Rand Paul continued his aggressive brush back of comments from his usual ally Sen. Ted Cruz suggesting that Paul is positioned at the left, dovish flank of the GOP on foreign policy, telling Fox News host Sean Hannity Cruz was mischaracterizing his views.
We always have been good friends. I'm not real excited about him mischaracterizing my views. I won't let that pass. I think that sometimes want to stand up and say hey, look at me, I'm the next Ronald Reagan. Well, almost all of us in the party are big fans of Ronald Reagan, Paul said.
I've always been a big fan of peace through strength. I think America should and has a responsibility around the world and really, virtually all of the opinions that have been coming from Republicans are somewhat the same on this that Putin should be condemned, he should be isolated. I favor sanctions on Putin. So, for people to characterize that as somehow not being the Reagan position, I think they need to have a re-reading of Reagan, frankly, Paul added.

Gee, looks like they put him solidly in the Liberaltarian column, funny that.
I would argue that Ron is definitely “more libertarian” than Rand.
Then again, anyone who espouses a smaller, more Constitutional role for the FedGov is aligning with libertarian philosophy whether they are cognizant of the idea or not.
The ACLU has been a Leftist parody of what it could have been.
Damn dumbass, do you even read the links you post?
“My opponents call me libertarian but I’m pro-life. (Feb 2011)”
You funny...
Rand wants to build a fence and have annual Congressional inspections to ensure it’s working.
Maybe he’s more “old fashioned” than you are...
When was the last time a LIberaltarian won an election?
They can’t unless they lie and put an ‘R’ after their name.
He doesn’t “ultimately support open borders”. Just the opposite. He has a secure the border FIRST plan.
To say or infer that he is for “open borders” is just inaccurate.
The trouble with “amnesty” is that it is a hot button issue and is a moving target. It’s a “third rail” issue. It’s definition can be almost anything.
Do the illegal issues, to you, represent problems that need to be solved?
If no, get lost, as your mind is made up or you don’t care.
If yes, Rand Paul has a viable plan. Are there things in it that people will dislike? Of course. Just saying “NO” is not a solution. He has legitimate explanations for his ideas. He is an “idea man”. I like that about him.
ON THE ISSUES.org Calls his record Liberaltarian, argue with them a$$hole!
Do you support the TEA Party? They are an awfully libertarian bunch what with all there smaller government and lower taxes stuff...
Bigger government RINO water cooler is over there——>
You’ll know you are there when you see John McCain chatting up Joe Biden...
ACU says he’s got a 100% conservative rating.
I know a libertarian stole your girlfriend, but your derangement syndrome is getting the better of you.
DUH! I think Rand Paul knows who he is more than you do. I like to go straight to the source, yes.
Don’t be fooled by Rand Paul’s rhetoric. He’s an isolationist, exactly like his old man. And for that reason he will never get the GOP nomination.
I’m not a fan of us being the World Police. He’s also no where near what his nutbag Father is...
I’m done with you punk, you’re too stupid to read a nonpartisan political rating site.
Punk? Lol...
You started out without a valid argument, and are ending with a personal attack.
You are laughable.
“Then again, anyone who espouses a smaller, more Constitutional role for the FedGov is aligning with libertarian philosophy whether they are cognizant of the idea or not.”
Very true, and many are not cognizant of that. I have had people on here tell me that they are for limited government, but that they arrive at this position without reliance on any libertarian philosophy. That’s a bit like saying an apple hit the ground because it fell out of a tree, and that gravity had nothing to do with it.
The main reason the Pauls are not Libertarians is the issue of abortion. The Libertarian Party alienates a lot of people (me, for instance) with its position, which is essentially no different from that of the Democrats. They are also to the Right of the LP on immigration, and Rand is on foreign policy.
And I never said he did “ultimately support open borders”. Actually, I said he proposed his 3rd way plan in such a fashion that he could end up voting against open borders. His plan is never going to be implemented, never was, and was put forth as a means of separating himself from the GOP on the issue without having to vote with the Democrats. He gave himself cover for the inevitable “racist” charge, while getting to oppose the final bill. It was a good political move, but I would have preferred that he simply lead against the bill.
Rand Paul is for sensible, rational, solutions to the illegal problems. The so called anti-amnesty crowd is bent on self destruction. They want their “pound of flesh” no matter that it is counter productive to their goals, (winning elections).
Being “smart” is more productive than being “angry”.
Compassion will get you more than vengeance and retribution.
Dealing rationally with something that has already happened is far superior to trying to put the genie back in the bottle, the bus back in the garage, the horse back in the barn, the train has already left the station.
“They’.......re, here........” and they are NOT going back. Get over it. Deal with it.
Rand Paul is for the legalization of all drugs. Rand Paul squirms around like a fish out of water when asked about homosexual “marriage”. He never gives a definitive answer saying he’s for real marriage. Ron Paul voted to allow sodomites in the Armed Forces and I guarantee you his son would have voted the same way. I am also not for being the world’s policeman, but Rand Paul is a libertarian mascarading as a republican. Don’t forget who his father is and who he supported last year for president. His name was Ron Paul.
“Rand Paul is for the legalization of all drugs.”
That is something of a revelation. Can you support that statement? I’ve never seen that anywhere.
Actually the tea party is more made up of social conservatives and the religious right, not social liberals and libertarians, and atheists are the most anti-tea party people out there.
Social liberals are overwhelmingly big government liberals, and social liberalism naturally leads to larger government, and more liberal voters desiring ever more.
