Could A Pro Pot Lesbian Become The Next Governor Of Maryland?
Daily Beast ^ | March 11, 2014 | Jim Newell

There’s no such thing as a Maryland liberal. Terms like “California liberal” or “Massachusetts liberal” are well known (and, depending on whom you ask, pejorative) terms in the American political lexicon. But “Maryland liberal”? Not so much. It sounds clunky and sort of hilarious. This could all change if Maryland decides to veer left and elect Heather Mizeur, a wonky, pro-pot married lesbian, as governor.

If she's a lesbian, she ain't "married".

Maryland Democrats are missing an opportunity if they fail to acknowledge the most accomplished mayor of Baltimore: Stephanie Rawlings-Blake. A stunning black woman, married to a man and mother of a toddler.

Even I am impressed with her fearless, no-nonsense approach to curbing crime and corruption in Baltimore - plus she wears a “Catholic Charities” baseball cap.

“Catholic Charities”

(((
One of the few collections at my parish that I refuse to donate to, as I will contribute to those who help illegals invade our country.

How's that working? The city is dying... Has she been able to slow the descent or turn it around?

I like the Catholic Charities acknowledgement.

The good stuff:Since taking office Mayor Rawlings-Blake has faced massive multi-million dollar budget deficits, resulting in tough cuts to the city’s budget. The administration balanced the budget through cuts to numerous agencies such as Parks and Recreation while increasing funding for the Police Department and maintaining the City’s token financial commitment to the Baltimore City Public School System. In particular, the mayor’s cuts to Parks and Recreation resulted in the August 4, 2012 closing of 4 public recreation and Police Athletic League centers with as many as 10 centers facing closing if a private operator could not be found. As a result of recent cuts, in 2012 Baltimore closed 24 public recreation centers shedding from 55 in 2011 to 31 by 2013.[10] The mayor favors support of centralizing and expanding just 16 centers and privatizing as many as 6 centers to be run by “private companies”.[11]

Rawlings-Blake credits her reforms to the city pension for saving $64 million yearly, saving the city from an even worse fiscal crisis. The mayor has made extensive cuts to city social welfare programs, with cuts to funding for prisoner reentry programs and the elimination of the city’s offices of Community Development and Community Relations.[12] In 2012, to close the budget deficit, the mayor closed 3 fire stations. Two of them, serving Harlem Park/Sandtown-Winchester and Berea/Clifton, are among Baltimore’s poorest communities.

Eastern Maryland is fine, Western MD is fine, Northern Maryland is fine.

Its Baltimore City and the DC suburbs that suck.

Northern Baltimore County is also conservative. We're just federally gerrymandered out of representation. Our delegates to Annapolis are conservative.
