We probably can think they have not rec'd a ransom request.
So, imo, the only thing you can conclude is that it has landed somewhere and what those who hijacked it wanted was on the plane.

The headline says: ‘haven’t sent out signals that have been picked up’. Doesn’t mean that they were turned off or that they aren’t sending signals. Just means searchers haven’t located any signals. If it is in the water, they will have to get relatively close to it to pick up the signal.
