Lets be honest, 70% of teams in NBA could fold tomorrow + nobody would notice a difference w/ possible exception of increase in streetcrime, tweeted state Rep. Pat Garofalo Sunday.
A Minnesota state lawmaker is under fire after making comments about the NBA that many feel were out of bounds. Gopher State Republican Rep. Pat Garofalo tweeted Sunday that 70% of teams in NBA could fold tomorrow + nobody would notice a difference w/ possible exception of increase in streetcrime.
The offensive tweet was met widely with criticism: more than 1,200 people retweeted it and hundreds of others replied to the tweet, calling it racist.
After the fallout, Garofalo said he was only "talking about NBA's high arrest rate.
They are the only major pro league that testing positive for marijuana is not a substance abuse violation," he told the Minneapolis Star Tribune. No intent beyond that.
Garofalo, according to the Star Tribune, regularly takes to social media to convey controversial opinions. Last summer, Minnesota residents widely blasted the Minneapolis-area native for a tweet in which he called a teachers union a liberal hate group.
Ok, where’s the racism??
So in order for some one to call the comment racist, they would have to believe that the criminals watching the game are Asian or ............Black? All I can say is that if you are offended by his comment you are probably racist.
I agree. the stupid ass doesn't know the difference between the NBA and the NFL.
Moron can't keep his criminal Pro leagues straight.
Has anyone else noticed that these crazy witch hunts against white people by the mass media are increasing rapidly? Why on earth would a NYC local newspaper spill any ink over this? Everyday, a large, mainstream media outlet has some “story” like this. It wasn’t happening a few years ago.
Racist? IDK. If the shoe fits, put 'em both on, a-holes.
Since Halfrican Baraq took office, it’s all race all the time.
Crap like that comment only feeds the liberal slander machine. That they push the false GOP-is-racist narrative is bad enough... why give them ammunition???
Unfortunately, while you’ve been gone, this year’s Super Bowl was the most watched televised event in history with 108.6 million viewers, so spectator sports still matter to a whole lot of people.
It was bigotry, not racism. Like when President Obama talked about, “a typical white person.”
I stopped watching the NBA after Jordan retired. For me, nothing beats high school and college basketball.
And some of us actually wonder why Conservatism is getting the crap kicked out of it.
TS it’s true.
Honesty is always racist. Is the NBA still around?
The same could be said of the NFL, sadly.
Why do we continue to do this to ourselves. First law of holes seems not to have been learned by some of these yobs
And how! If a national election was imminent, this story would be the big national news event of the week.
"And so, Senator Cruz, do you agree with your Republican colleague Rep. Garofalo that most black athletes are potential criminals?"It's all about mobilizing the low-information vote, and the left's propaganda machine does that very well.
Rule #1 for Republican politicians: Never give the MSM ammunition that they can use against you.
Yes, they do. It's not just sports. People will watch just about anything, it seems.
(Progressive response) Yeah, but we know what he MEANT!
Meh. They'll just make something up if you don't provide it to them. Mean what you say, say what you mean, and don't apologize when you're right, no matter how much pressure they apply.
