Oh, and please name three conservative philosophers you admire, if you don’t mind. And while you’re bringing me up to speed on “boogyemen” (sic), if don’t mind, define “neocon.”
Was that suppose to make sense?
Can you please try making a point? Your posts are bizarre and nonsensical.
Seriously, when did you learn English?
All joking aside, are you in high school? Do you suffer from any mental problems?
You are not making any sense. Please, think about what you want to say before you type it out.
Can you name a conservative philosopher whom you admirer? What do you mean by neocon?
I’d go with the definition found on Wikipedia : Neoconservatives frequently advocate the “assertive” promotion of democracy and promotion of “American national interest” in international affairs including by means of military force.
Now if that isn’t your view point , I do apologize .
I read plenty of conservative writers but none of which I’d call philosophers , besides Ayn Rand and I’m not a huge fan really.
Do you support the promotion of another countries interest?
If you don't support the promotion of democracy, do you support the promotion of anything?
All real modern conservatives, I think, begin with recognition of Edmund Burke, and in particular his book REFLECTIONS ON THE REVOLUTION IN FRANCE.
Other leading conservatives, in my opinion, include but are certainly not limited to: Friedrich von Hayek, Whitaker Chambers, G.K. Chesterton, Hilaire Belloc, James Burnham, William F. Buckley, Thomas Sowell, Joseph Sobran, Milton Friedman, Winston Churchill, and, dare I say it, Ronald Reagan.
Depends on what you mean by “support” and what you mean by “interest”.
Of the people on that list I’d go with Chesterton, sowell, Buckley being my favorite conservative “philosophers”.
Which isn’t to say I agree with everything they say.
And you like Pat Buchanan or Savage, I suspect.
Would you say that the Wikipedia definition was accurate or not ? I’m starting to find this tedious.
Feel free to send me a private message if you want, I have no need to continue with this discuss and derail this topic.
I think there is some truth in the Wikipedia definition. Neoconservatism began, mostly, in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s among ex-Marxist, Democrats, Southern Democrats, Liberal Democrats, and Catholic and Jewish Democrats who crossed over to the Republican Party. They rejected the Left’s critique of America as an Imperialist Power. They agreed that the USA had flaws needing attention, but were ardent anti-communists at home and abroad. Among the most famous was Irving Kristal, Patrick Moynihan, Norman Podhoretz, Jeane Kirkpatrick, Michael Novak, and Fred Barnes. The bottom line was that these people rejected liberalism, but they did not reject the USA as a special and unique place.
