Can banning one school-yard word really change the world? Sheryl Sandberg says yes.
Sandberg -- the chief operating officer of Facebook and author of the best-selling book "Lean In" -- is spearheading the launch of a campaign today to ban the word "bossy," arguing the negative put-down stops girls from pursuing leadership roles.
"We know that by middle school, more boys than girls want to lead," Sandberg said, "and if you ask girls why they don't want to lead, whether it's the school project all the way on to running for office, they don't want to be called bossy, and they don't want to be disliked."
Sandberg said these attitudes begin early and continue into adulthood.
"We call girls bossy on the playground," Sandberg said. "We call them too aggressive or other B-words in the workplace. They're bossy as little girls, and then they're aggressive, political, shrill, too ambitious as women."
When a little boy asserts himself, he's called a leader. Yet when a little girl does the same, she risks being branded bossy.

Nation of Nancies
When a little boy asserts himself he’s called a bully.
Near as I can tell girls are getting plenty of help from society.
Propaganda for Hillary 2016.
1st amendment means nothing to liberal trash unless it is their view being expressed
How’s “bitchy” instead?
Yes, entirely too many are bossy, then bitchy ...
Banning words and engaging in political correctness won't change that fact, nor will it change peoples' awareness of it. If girls/women don't want to be thought of as "bossy", or "bitchy", or whatever other unflattering term then they should learn to avoid the offensive behavior which the unflattering term describes.
crime speak ala 1984.
changing the word bossy does not make a girl boss.
too many confuse bossy with boss.
I’ll never understand this idiocy. Changing the name of things does not change the thing. The word Bossy has no power. Changing it or removing it will not change the behavior.
Some time ago, North Dakota wanted to drop the “North” and change its name to Dakota. They claimed that the word “North” led people to the opinion that the state was a wide open, frozen land. The fact that it IS a wide open, frozen land much of the time seemed lost on them.
Changing the name of a thing does not change the thing. A rose by any other name....
That’s funny right there, I don’t care who you are.
Facebook, huh? Her book, "Lean In" seems to me to be a take off of MSNBS' "Lean Forward", and the Obama campaign slogan, "Forward". So what she's telegraphing is that she's a Liberal true believer.
And just like the Liberal faithful, she wants to ban the word, "bossy". Why is it that Liberals always want to ban certain words? Why is it that Liberals are always on a quest to change the meaning of words if they're not outright trying to ban the use of certain words?
Sheryl Sandberg is a Feminist-Leftist who has a goal of diminishing men by telling everyone who listens to her that women are the same as men. This is a lie from the pit of hell that sows discord, confusion, and resentment.
Go ahead women. Reach your goal of being the baddest on the block by showing men that you are superior! But be fully prepared to pay the heavy toll that will most certainly come with that. Wrecked family or perhaps dying alone with your many cats.
The fact is, there are certain immutable truths that feminists refuse to believe. Worse, they then try to lead others onto their path of error and confusion. Misery is sure to ensue.
I don’t know what she’s worried about, giving Ritalin to the white Christian male school kids has already achieved her goal of removing them from positions of influence.
As the mother of a middle school boy, I can tell you there is no shortage of assertive girls. They need to pipe down and the meek ones need a little encouragement.
I’ve had plenty of women bosses. There is a difference between leadership and bossyness. Leadership should be encouraged. Bossyness should not.
Also, where did they ever get the idea that the term “bossy” is not applied to boys? Seems like an equal opportunity word where we live, and boys get in trouble for it, too.
zuckerberg has given millions to planned parenthood and pro immigration groups, and now sandberg wants to remove boys from the culture. i’m wondering if larry summers had ruled for the winklevoss’ instead of zuckerberg, if they would be trying to reengineer this country.
I wonder if a young Hillary Rodham was bossy at that age.......................
What a bossy c**t.
The author does not seem to understand the difference between being a boss and being a leader. Too many women supervisors at any level are or become bossy and close off any dissent or other opposing inputs as insults to them personally. Many men in supervisory positions are not so much bossy as they are insular, self-serving nitwits who rely on others to do the work which they have little practical knowledge of (Peter Principle) and take all of the credit.
Neither type/gender example are leaders. There are few real leaders in upper positions primarily because those who are managers know how to manage processes and not people and they tend to promote those who are most like them (asskissers).
