So when did Ann's and Obama Sr.'s "whatever happened happened fast" wedding happen? For no apparent reason, confusion abounds among Obama's biographers over the wedding date:
1. Dreams claims that Ann and Obama Sr. were in married "in 1960"; similarly, Mendell's 2007 book claims that the couple were married "sometime in late 1960" when they "slipped off alone to the island of Maui"; and both Obamaland (2008) by Ron Jacobs (with contributor David Maraniss) and a 2007 Washington Post article claim that the two were married "late in 1960."
2. A 2007 Chicago Tribune article vaguely claims that Ann and Obama Sr. were married "six months before" Barack's birth on Aug 4, 1961 -- or, in other words, sometime in early 1961.
3. An April 2008 Time article by Amanda Ripley, as does Maraniss's August 2008 article, gives a specific date of February 2, 1961 for the wedding, apparently based on Ann's and Obama Sr.'s 1964 divorce records mysteriously appearing on the web. But since fake documents have been known to appear on the web, Obama's biographers, Ripley and Maraniss, might want to verify the 1964 divorce documents especially since a Feb. 2, 1961 marriage date for "Ann and Obama Sr." wasn't reported in any Honolulu Advertiser or Honolulu Star-Bulletin marriage lists from February 1961. Take the February 8, 1961 Star-Bulletin, which listed eighteen marriages from Feb. 3, Feb. 4, and Feb. 6, and no Feb. 2 marriages, and the February 7, 1961 Advertiser, which listed eleven marriages from Feb. 2 to 4, including two Feb. 2 marriages.

Actually the shape of his chin is not very much like the Dunham family.
There is no evidence of anyone named David.
Other than a couple of throwaway lines in the propganda book “Dreams” and on Mark’s website, the photo is now taken off. Maybe in Mark’s book, I don’t know.
Here’s a succinct description of Ayers’ book “Dreams”, except that it’s probably less than half true:
Half the truth is often a great lie. - Benjamin Franklin
Shop.
ok— thx
Funny you should come up with that image right at this very moment. Just as we are discussing how it seems the african student who left two blondes pregnant in Hawaii might have been the kenyan, and Frank Marshall Davis felt it was too delicate to mention his name...
Seems like the boy whose photograph you’re showing us here might have been the son of the kenyan and a local girl with a polynesian background. I’ve wondered for a very long time how he got to look that way, he’s straight out of some exotic island background, isn’t he? Mother was a hula hula girl?
Oh, just read FN’s comment. Maybe not shopped; that’s what I remember the sort of conclusion being.
I wonder where it originally came from.
I don’t think it’s a fake, it’s just a youth whose image has been lightened but the arm is in shadow and remains the colour that it was. The dark band under the chin is a bother, but what was the image supposed to achieve? It was posted a long time ago in an attempt to show how much the mythical ‘David’ resembled zero. That’s the image some ‘genealogy sites’ use to show his year of birth and death, which vary according to which site you visit.
And that’s the image Malik uses on his ‘Barack Obama Foundation’ website.
Thanks. Interesting read.
I’m no Benjamin Franklin, but I maintain that the biggest lies need some truth to hang their hat on. The trick to reading ‘Dreams’ is to sift the little truth out of the body of the work.
And one rather obvious truth is that a number of names and characters were used and blended to create the composite character of the mother.
Actually the shape of his chin is not very much like the Dunham family.
I see a resemblance to the three and their chins.
It is kinda odd, not alot of pics or info bout david at all.. Was there any info about his death found you know of? news paper, other pics, funeral, death certificate? Thx
No real info about “David”. Appears to be a fiction, like much of Ayers’ book “Dreams”.
It did to me too, until it became clear that SAD wasn’t his mother. Now I can see that although the Dunham chin is long, the shape is rather different.
Much more resemblance to the Little chin.
That poem was written from the perspective of a young boy. If it was written by zero, he was a victim and how he may have reflected this abuse in later behaviour and attitude is a sad result of something he would not have been able to defend himself against as a child. I prefer to see that as a tragedy, for which he would not be responsible.
All the same, I still doubt it came from his pen. It only resonates that way with people who still hold to the theory that Frank was his father, and that’s why the poem has the title ‘Pop’
The question needs to remain open imo. I just hope that if he did write it, ‘Pop’ wasn’t ‘gramps’ because that would indeed be horrible.
And one rather obvious truth is that a number of names and characters were used and blended to create the composite character of the mother.
And even the book itself admits that there were “composite characters” and other blendings and fictions added in. And yet still plenty of people cling to what was even admitted to be at best historical fiction.
Thank you.
Another weird anamoly.
Any other American president whose life is filled to the brim and overflowing with weird anomalies, holes, fraud, fake life stories, scrubbed documents, forgeries and so on?
Nope. And probably no other “leader” of any other country, either.
David Opiyo Obama (1968-1984), son of Barack H. Obama and baby brother of Abon'go Malik Obama.
another year date to play with that doesn't fit anywhere.
Obama has half-siblings from his father’s first and third marriages in Africa .
Malik Obama (half-brother ) (b 1958)
Auma Obama (half-sister b 1960)
Abo Obama (maybe adopted half-brother b 1968)
Bernard Obama (maybe adopted half-brother b 1970)
Mark Ndesandjo ) half-brother by father’s third wife b c.1965
David Ndesandjo (1967-1987) half-brother by father’s third wife,
George Hussein Onyango Obama ( illegitimate half-brother, b c 1982)
