A Malaysia Airlines flight carrying 239 people has lost contact with air traffic control and was still missing two hours after it was supposed to have landed in Beijing, the airline said Saturday morning.
The airline told NBC News that a search-and-rescue mission was under way but said it had no further information.
The flight from Kuala Lumpur, carrying 227 passengers, including two infants, and 12 crew members, had been scheduled to land at 6:30 a.m. in Beijing (5:30 p.m. ET Friday).
I think she was surprised more so that a past incident occurred with suicide offered as the reason. Not so much that it was raised as a possibility here. The way I interpreted the discussion was that the interviewed person threw out past incidents that caused planes to crash. When he mentioned “suicide,” she seemed surprised and then he described Egypt 990. Maybe someone else interpreted it differently.

Was in the industry at the time and knew that the jackscrew was made in China. We already knew not to trust anything important to Chinese parts but they got away with it.
Thanks for the update. You would think they would carry it live...interesting silence.
That was San Diego...Bad scene...midair....The neighborhood on the ground looked like it had been badly bombed...I was at the scene before not long after the crash....Ground damage was severe...
Afterwards people in San Diego had a saying, "No one rocks San Diego like PSA".
BTW, they saw the Cessna prior to impact, but kept talking carrying on conversation, lost site of it, and whammo....
Light out.
That’s something anyway, radio signal, transponder ?
Megyn Kelly carried the story for an hour, but the press conference kept on being delayed, now they are just showing Hannity and that annoying little douche Tamara Holder
@WSJ Breaking: Missing plane also has passengers from Australia, U.S. France, Ukraine & Canada
Interesting, why would there be Ukranian’s on board, interesting combo
this was a different one, and i remember this one too... one of my mother’s co-workers was on this flight with her young son... it was the end of summer and they were returning to San Jose... school was about to begin... i still remember the pic on the front page of the San Jose Mercury News... it was of the airplane in a nose dive... very sad...
Has to look up Cape Ca Mau. It’s the Southernmost tip of Vietnam.
Makes me glad I don’t have TV here at the ranch.
So the story of the note wasn't true?
I remember that crash(lived in Cal. at the time)and there was much made about "the note".
And CNN is carrying that Postorious Murder Case.
Yeah I had to look it up too, never heard of it, but Im not familiar with Vietnam so I wouldnt have been able to locate it on a map
Interesting! My father-in-law was called to the scene as well (still doen't like to speak of it)... as a PSA employee.
Im getting my news from twitter, media is useless tonight so social media seems to be getting a good source of info
Sure is hard to find real-time news; the talking heads and idiotic commercials drown it all.
If you haven’t seen this yet. Thoughts?
Prayers...May the Lord comfort all.
Apparently there WAS a note on a sea-sickness bag:
