RE: He Would Try to Help Potential Gay Teammate Find Jesus
OK, so he finds Jesus... what happens to his gayness after that?
Jesus shows the unsaved gay player that the new life He wants to give him is not gay. That’s the way it works. It’s not a mended life...it’s a new life. And it starts with meeting Jesus, GO KIRK COUSINS, That is an AWESOME presentation of the Gospel. 2 Corinthians 5:17 If any man is in Christ, there is a new creation. The old things have passed away, behold all things are become new.
John 8:11
Same thing that happens to any sinner. If he truly 'finds' (actually it is the Great Shepherd who does the 'finding') Jesus, he finds Him as Saviour and Lord. The sinner will want to please the Lord, and the Holy Spirit will help him overcome his sin. He may stumble along the way, but he will overcome. He will shed more or his sin nature and adopt more of the nature (imperfectly on this side of the grave - but to some degree) of his Lord.
1 John 3:2-9 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in Him purifieth himself, even as He is pure. Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. And ye know that He was manifested to take away our sins; and in Him is no sin. Whosoever abideth in Him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen Him, neither known Him. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as He is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for His seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
“OK, so he finds Jesus... what happens to his gayness after that?”
Let’s let Jesus handle that. Fixing people is kind of His specialty.
His gayness is only a propensity for that type of sin.
Like my alcoholism, and philandering, and all my other wrteched behaviors I had before Jesus healed me.
"Heal me and I shall be healed, save me and I shall be saved" (Jeremiah 7:14)
Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God?(I) Do not be deceived:(J) Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers(K) nor men who have sex with men[a](L) 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers(M) will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And that is what some of you were.(N) But you were washed,(O) you were sanctified,(P) you were justified(Q) in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
OK, so he finds Jesus... what happens to his gayness after that?
The same thing that happens to ANYONES flaws.
Its the behavior not the person. Love the sinner, hate the sin. Simple to say or write, hard to actually do.
