Cairo: Egypt detained and deported Northern Irish Nobel Laureate and peace activist Mairead Maguire on Wednesday after she tried to enter the country, she and airport officials said.
She had intended to join a delegation of activists going to the neighbouring Gaza Strip on Thursday.
On Tuesday, airport police had detained and deported American anti-war activist Medea Benjamin, also part of the delegation. She told AFP her arm was broken by the policemen.

The editor writes “Nobel Laureate” like it means something.
It means about as much as winning a Cronkite award.
The military refused to let her in on national security grounds. If they let this old hag in so soon after Medea Benjamin, there would be a popular revolt to bring back the Muslim Brotherhood and their requirement that women wear burquas.

There is a time and a place for taking off the kid gloves when dealing with these types. I don’t think we are quite there yet in America, but in Egypt they’re probably well past it.
