I think conservatives need to take a breath when it comes to the lionization of Vladimir Putin. If your objective is to show how hapless Barack Obama is by contrasting him with his geopolitical adversary, then yeah, Putin is clearly 12 steps ahead of Obama and quick to seize on the opportunities provided by Obamas frequent strategic mistakes and poor instincts.
But lets not lose sight of this: Putin is a perpetrator of global mayhem. However much we enjoy demonstrating Obamas weakness for partisan purposes, the fact remains that its not in the interests of the United States (or of free nations anywhere) if Putin keeps using Russias military muscle to expand its influence as he is doing right now in Ukraine. You can respect your adversary, but can we give it a rest with the Putin-now-that-guys-a-president-we-should-have-him-here crap?
A better perspective on Putin comes from Congressman Mike Rogers, who chairs the House Intelligence Committee and delved into some actual steps the U.S. could be taking to counter Russias aggression:

What else do you expect him to do now? /s
Tex, I think the very best we can hope for is the the “O” does nothing at all. My take on this is that the investment community is silently praying that he takes another vacation.
Uh, well yes, he has a pen and a telephone, so I guess his next step will be to send a letter or a post card.
The affirmative-action poster buy (Clown Prince nobama) is the apex of FAIL. What a putz!
The Cubans sent soldiers to Grenada in the 80s and we sent the military to send them packing. Grenada was a “sovereign” country but one within our sphere of influence. How is this situation really any different? Ukraine in general and Crimea in particular are not Germany and they’re not Poland. They’re geopolitical areas that historically been under the Russian umbrella. Just as Grenada basically was under ours.
Their socialist dictator can whip our socialist would-be dictator. My only hope is that the two of them sour American youth on socialist dictators.
What will we do when Obama seizes Louisiana? we’ll in Louisiana will show him/she/it
Ha! That’s great...he can write to threaten that they have to give up their health plan and find a new doctor!!
Nope, he’s doing exactly what he planned to do before the election. If Romney had been more keyed in with the military and intelligence departments he’d have had advisors that would have helped him bring this to light.
Obama is doing exactly what he wants.
Well he sent Johneffin Kerry to Kiev where he will stand facing Moscow and shake his long-faced head reprovingly!
I am sure Putin will quickly scurry out of Crimea!
Bottom line, Putin made his correct calculations: the West is too impotent to do a damn thing. We did it purposefully and willfully. Putin is simply filling the vacuum.
Do I agree with the aggression? No. But realisticly there is not a lot that can be done.
Maybe they could concentrate on not letting Putin protect any Russian speakers in Sheboygan....
He sure does know what to do. Look at Yahoo (which I try not to do) John F’ing Kerry is offering the Ukraine 1 billion in aid!
I really think my head is going to explode!!!
Its to early for a beer isn’t it?
Putin is looking out for Russia.
Obama is looking to destroy America.
That is the difference.
Those Greek columns Obama built must have been, totally, just a stage prop.
I feel so bamboozled.
Reminds me of the way General Erwin Rommel was respected by the British enemies in the war. One can admire the crafty fox but not wish to beaten by him. The Fox Putin has just pulled a Rommel on us—he seized Criemea—lets hope he doesn’t want any more of the Ukraine—let him digest Criemea for a while. In the end—Rommel turned on Hitler and paid the price with his life.
Obama is NOT going to send a presidential delegation to the Sochi Paralympics!
What more do you want him to do in this "Year of Action?"/s
Of course he had no idea what to do. He is use to people around him responding to his pompous arrogant moral superiority instead of the hard facts of the world that include military power and confrontation.
He is totally incapable, out of his league, and as capable as a fish flopping in the bottom of the boat... and with fisherman Putin planning on dinner.
Putin: KGB
Obama: Acorn
