Reminds me of the so called first Pope when they asked him if he knew Jesus Christ....
“Then he began to call down curses, and he swore to them, “I don’t know the man!” Immediately a rooster crowed.” ( MATTHEW 26:74 ).
But the question is why was the Pope speaking in English?

He wasn't speaking English. He was speaking Italian. He was trying to say, "in this case" (in questo caso), and he mispronounced caso (CAH-zo), instead saying cazzo (COTT-zo), which is a slang word for male genitalia (also used colloquially to mean someone's personal business).

You’re talking about Peter? he was not a Pope, he was a disciple.

From the article:
“..His Holiness meant to use the Italian word for example, which is caso. Instead, he used the word cazzo, which Italians use as a synonym for the four-letter obscenity....”
It would appear that he was speaking in Italian... and just sort of screwed up.
This just lends itself to SO many jokes though...
