I heard many colorful variations of that word a lot when I lived in an Italian neighborhood.

He wasn't speaking English. He was speaking Italian. He was trying to say, "in this case" (in questo caso), and he mispronounced caso (CAH-zo), instead saying cazzo (COTT-zo), which is a slang word for male genitalia (also used colloquially to mean someone's personal business).

My criticisms of Bergoglio (or Wojtyla and Ratzinger for that matter) are because he’s a false prophet, not because he’s human.

RE: See post 64.
Actually it was explained as early as Post #10
The rest were simply repetitions.

So all those years in the clergy at various levels Francis never picked up Italian well enough? Or did he just start learning after the conclave?
To: Gamecock
Should he give up his speech writer for Lent?
To: Gamecock; Jim Robinson
This is a non story. To take it out of the Religion Forum (it belonged in the Smokey Back Room) and put this kind of lying, spinning, BS journalism up on the Breaking News sidebar just proves the anti-Catholic bias of this forum.
To: SeekAndFind
You’re talking about Peter? he was not a Pope, he was a disciple.

put this kind of lying, spinning, BS journalism Actually it is a real story. Made national headlines - so it is breaking news. As far as lying, the facts seems to support the Pope did in fact make a verbal error. So what part was the lie?
To: SeekAndFind
I responded to the person asking how it is pronounced in Italian, as no one had before. I also posted the associated shades of meaning.

“just proves the anti-Catholic bias of this forum”
That’s rich. There is more pro-Catholic, Catholic Caucus, and blind Catholic following on this forum than anywhere else I visit on the interwebs, to the point that complaints about the annoying over abundance of Catholic-specific threads gets ignored.
If you want pure Catholic worship, please visit a Catholic forum, not a Conservative forum where ideas, and their pros/cons are discussed freely and without reservation, within reason.
