Russia's Black Sea Fleet has told Ukrainian forces in Crimea to surrender by 5.am (0300 GMT) on Tuesday or face a military assault, Interfax news agency quoted a source in the Ukrainian Defence Ministry as saying.
The ultimatum, Interfax said, was issued by Alexander Vitko, the fleet's commander.

I expect them to surrender. Fighting with no hope of resupply and reinforcement is criminally senseless. There is no point in a fight you cannot win.
This splendid little war from Moscow’s point of view is all but over. Whether it expands depends on other developments in the days ahead.
Shades of 1939.
Congratulations, Obama.
Change.. Change back to the past.
History repeats itself.
When idiots and ideologues reign, innocent people suffer..
and die.
Putin does have a legitimate point that he is protecting Russians. Although, he is likely more interested in his gas pipelines to Europe that run through Ukraine. Putin is not going to back down.
Imagine the reaction of our government if Texas actually moved to secede from the USA? I don’’t doubt our government would send everything it has to put a stop to it.

State department spent $5 billion to help move Ukraine into EU and IMF
Press conference video Dec 13, 2013
“...He is a KGB commie thug; not one to admire.....>
True, but when compared to Mr. Skittles, he’s a man and a real leader. That says a lot.
this is what happens when we allow a person more interested in impressing the academics in the faculty lounges to become president. The world actors in places like Europe and Cairo are no longer cheering for the black guy that promised to lower the seas but they’re screaming for Capt. American and the get Ceech Marin.
They've been around since 1700 or so. Have fought in all Russian Wars. Served with great honor/distinction.
Merely wanted to point out many Russian Marines (Naval Infantry) are presently onshore-Crimea. Others waiting for orders offshore. This fact is us course known by Ukrainians in Crimea and elsewhere...
“True, but when compared to Mr. Skittles, hes a man and a real leader. That says a lot.”
Well some people probably felt the same way about Hitler in the 30’s.
Just because we have a weak leader here; doesn’t mean we should admire another nations commie thug leader just because he takes a good photograph doing manly things.
“...Imagine the reaction of our government if Texas actually moved to secede from the USA? I dont doubt our government would send everything it has to put a stop to it....”
Get ready. There is a strong undercurrent of independence brewing in TX right now. Mr. Skittles already stated that he supports a sovereign people to declare their independence in his speech on the Ukraine the other day. So it sounds like he’d be way cool with TX leaving. Oh wait! All that oil and gas....No!!!
Well, I guess the Ukrainians are just lucky that Putin’s going to save them from being as prosperous as the EU nations. You know, you wouldn’t want them to catch up with say, Poland, or the Czech Republic. It’s better to stay benighted and governed by Putin’s proxies. That’s really the best way to go.
Putin is living in the 1970’s and dreaming of putting the SU back together. Short of that he’ll take as much of it as he can get. Crimea now and eastern Ukraine later. Maybe after that another Baltic adventure. He is a bully who enjoys beating those smaller than him. Putins adventures will not end with Crimea, guanteed.
You’re right. In the 1930s, there were French Conservatives who favored Hitler over Blum. Blum was a daft socialist. Hitler was a monster like Stalin. We don’t have to praise a punk thug like Putin because Obama is a threat to our freedom and doesn’t respect the rule of law. It makes us appear to be unable to critically think.
But Texas is part of the USA. Ukraine is an independent country with its own sovereignty. That’s not a valid comparison.
‘..Just because we have a weak leader here; doesnt mean we should admire another nations commie thug leader just because he takes a good photograph doing manly things....”
Weak leader??....LMAO!
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t like either of these ruthless commie thugs. But IF I’m gonna be stuck with a commie thug, I’ll take the man version over the gay pansy version any day.
Russia may leave the Western Ukrainians a rump state. If he moves to annex the rest of Ukraine as he digested Crimea as a appetizer, every one knows to fear Russia.
You don’t come for the Russian Bear; the Russian Bear comes for you - whatcha gonna do? Russia comes for you? It sounds like a parody of the signature “Sheriff Brown” song that opens the “Cops” show. But for the Ukrainians, its no laughing matter.
“...But Texas is part of the USA. Ukraine is an independent country with its own sovereignty. Thats not a valid comparison....”
It was a soviet state for years. Just like TX is/was a state for years. Very valid comparison.
Boycott Russian made goods in the USA in protest of the war against Ukraine
Thankfully, there are only few of them:
1. Vodka
Do not buy Stoli, Smirnoff, Russian Standard or other Russian brands there are lots of high quality alternatives (Nemiroff, Belvedere, Grey Goose, Kettle One, etc.)
2. Kasperski antivirus software
Do not buy this software. As Russian friends joke, one department of the lab creates the virus and another one creates the antidote. There are plenty of alternatives.
3. Lukoil
Do not buy gas at the Lukoil gas stations. They are owned by the Russian oligarch tycoon Alekperov who is a close ally of Putin
Not one American dollar should support Putins Russia war against Ukraine.
Please spread this message around
Yes, he’s a bully and he’s a real menace to freedom in much of the world with his support for the Iranian nuclear project, and his assistance to Assad in Syria. He’s doing his best to thwart the US without regard to the results.
