When Barack Obama was running for President, many of us had doubts about his commitment to Israel. Even though he claimed to support them with no reservations, we were not so sure of his real intentions. This is what he said when he was bidding for the White House, claiming Israel's security was non-negotiable and sacrosanct. He has repeatedly reiterated that statement throughout his first term and into his second. Again, many of us wondered if his actions would ever match his rhetoric. My friends, that day has finally came, but not in the way American Jews or their fellow Jews in Israel would have hoped. This is what he told Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday in an interview with Bloomberg. Thanks to Gateway Pundit for the tip.
The Times of Israel - Israel can expect to face international isolation and possible sanctions from countries and companies across the world if Benjamin Netanyahu fails to endorse a framework agreement with the Palestinians, US President Barack Obama cautioned on Sunday ahead of a meeting with the Israeli prime minister.Personally, I would have liked to heard Netanyahu's reaction when he heard what President Obama had to say. I suspect, given the Israeli Prime Minister's attitude of taking care of Israel first, it wasn't something Obama would appreciate. As it is with Obama's relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin, he is out of his league with Benjamin Netanyahu. Given his past actions, I can't see either man taking the President seriously at all.In an interview with Bloomberg, Obama stressed that time was running out for Israel to achieve a peace deal, and added that he believed Netanyahu had the capacity to rally Israels citizens behind an agreement
The president went on to condemn in no uncertain terms Israels settlement activities in the West Bank, and said that though his allegiance to the Jewish state was permanent, building settlements across the Green Line was counterproductive and would make it extremely difficult for the US to defend Israel from painful repercussions in the international community.
If you see no peace deal and continued aggressive settlement construction and we have seen more aggressive settlement construction over the last couple years than weve seen in a very long time if Palestinians come to believe that the possibility of a contiguous sovereign Palestinian state is no longer within reach, then our ability to manage the international fallout is going to be limited, Obama said.
Does President Obama really think he can load the negotiations in favor of his peace plan, before they even begin? If there is one thing I have learned from watching Benjamin Netanyahu and his leadership of Israel, it is two things. First, he loves his country. I suspect his love for Israel is far greater than the love our current President has for America. Second, he does not bluff, especially when it comes to Israel's security.
So, we know now how President Obama really feels about Israel. He has no intention of backing them up, should push come to shove with the international community. He will roll over like a whipped puppy and Israel will be left on their own. Is anyone who has paid attention in the last five years really surprised at this announcement? I know I'm not.
Hey owebama, you posterior orifice, don’t ever expect me to protect you.
Most American Jews I know voted for the bastard.
Neither is South Korea, or Taiwan, or several other countries with which we have defense agreements. Same with NATO. Do you renege on your contracts?
Oh wait. You're not singling out Israel's defense agreement to ignore, are you? Pat, is that you?
We got the world though the Cold War. We don't owe anybody a thing.
Great picture of The 0ne at the article. He cannot meet Bibi’s eyes.
He doesn’t seem much interested in backing the U.S.,so why would he back Israel?
I want numbers and data sources.
And please, politics and demographics are NOT synonymous!
CA....
Able has nothing to do with it. He hates Israel so will never support it.
Are you serious?
We got the world though the Cold War. We don't owe anybody a thing.
So we'll let the Muslims throw the Jews into the sea and take over Africa; sit back and let the ChiComms take Taiwan and for good measure, the Philippines; let a nuclear war begin between Japan and the Norks; and let Putin have the old USSR territories back. Then, he and the Caliphate can start to carve apart what's left of Western Europe. England's practically halfway towards bowing to Mecca as it is.
Who cares, right? Not our problem! the USA can just sit back and let the world go by. Oh wait, who's that knocking at our door?
Islam is not a monolith. Even Sunni Islam is bitterly divided against itself. Removing the meddling American presence in their lands, another Cold War relic, they are less likely to join forces against us than are the Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland.
True. There was absolutely zero US interest in that adventure.
Agree with Iraq and Afghanistan or not, we had interest in both. We were already at war in Iraq and Saddam repeatedly broke his terms of surrender. Afghanistan openly housed terrorists that killed thousands of Americans. Syria is of importance, but of no direct threat to us.
With Obama&Co you know what it was like to be on the Titanic.
“Under Obama, America wont be able to defend America, and he wont try.”
That’s the whole, naked truth.
“Personally, I would have liked to heard Netanyahu’s reaction when he heard what President Obama had to say.”
Bibi doesn’t count on Obama to defend Israel. He counts on Tsahal. All Bibi wants from Barry is that he stops meddling, and get off his shoulders that horse-faced clown, I named Kerry.
He and his handlers, the whole administration, are devout Jew-hating muslim sympathizers . . . ergo, Israel is on its own.
We knew that many years ago:
I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.
- Barack Hussein Obama
Since Obama the mooselimb won’t even try.
“Most American Jews I know voted for the bastard.”
Which is why I support Israel but am puzzled by the liberal nature of American jews.
