Could someone start a thread for people who
Haven’t been to a movie in 15 years
Haven’t watched the Oscars since Bob Hope died.
Want to just come along to say they didn’t see it, but ask a question about what some movie won.
A sure that Hollywood will be destroyed by fire and brimstone during a future Oscar event.
Comment on movies they haven’t seen
Or are just too bored to care
I see about two movies a year. The last movie I thought was really good was “The Hurt Locker,” about four years ago.
Had to laugh, my wife and I had not been in a theater since 1996 (X-Files Movie). A couple of weeks ago we went to see the Lego Movie in 3-D. The cost was outrageous, but we were willing to blow off that much money on a rare “date.” Overall it was nice. The movie was loud, rather long for a story with so little substance, but the visuals were amazing. We both agreed we were glad we went, but won’t be doing it again soon unless there’s something that cries out to be seen on a big screen. We’re both usually happy to wait for DVD.
I remember sneaking looks at the Academy Awards when I was a kid—having been sent to bed about an hour in, hating having to wait so long for Best Actor. Neither of us has watched the program in our 33 years of marriage. It’s too much gushing liberalism and/or “inside baseball” to justify the investment of time.
I still consider myself a lover of the movies, I’m just adamant that I want to consume them on my terms. I love my living room and my Sony Bravia! AND our feet don’t stick to the floor.
