Can’t believe that Nebraska was completely shut out - it was an amazing movie.

But, to get the Oscar, ya gotta be “in the club” or in a politically correct film ...

The Hobbit was mildly entertaining, but not a great movie at all. I don’t think Hollywood is capable of producing a great movie anymore.

Something that I never get with the Academy Awards. 12 Years a Slave was the best picture, but Alfonso Cuarón was the best director for Gravity. So the guy who directed the best picture wasn't the best director. Wha?

So The Hobbit didn’t win anything (waiting for all 3 to be out?), and Ender’s Game wasn’t nominated for anything. That should be a clue to Gavin Hood to leave film.

LOL, those were the only 2 movies I actually paid to watch in a theater!

I liked them both, with reservations, of course. But I never, ever watch a movie without suspending disbelief and all expectations before the thing even starts.

Very, very, very few movies are films.

A film matches the quality of the book.

I see about two movies a year. The last movie I thought was really good was “The Hurt Locker,” about four years ago.

There was applause for Love’s gospel verse. The other two mentions were hidden within the overall song and speech.

Won’t hurt them to hear more of that and you can’t stop the winners from thanking whomsoever.

The Special FXs were stunning, but the story, and especially Clowney’s acting, was a little weak. Not compelling. I thought the Space Odyssey parallel was feebly interesting, but shallow.

well don. I liked Zero Dark about bin laden.

I don’t know if Lone Survivor came out before Jan 1. It probably wouldn’t get a nod anyway. Can’t glorify heroic action by troops.

I like Sandra Bullock. And I’m not one to pay much attention to actors, or many movies for that matter. This is the first year in 20 that I’ve caught some of the awards show. But she does seem like a sweet, sensitive person and even the guy who won for doing something or other on the Gravity flic, during his peech, stated she’s one of the best people he’s known.

I liked Matthew Mcoughany’s (or however you spell it)speech. Seems like a genuine guy. I’m curious about one thing though...what exactly did he say about God, and friends? He had me until that last sentence because it sounded like maybe he’s one of these new age spiritualists, like we are God or whatever. Maybe I got it wrong. But he gets props in my book for mentioning Him:)

As they have for the last 30 yrs or so, the Oscars celebrated a bunch of movies that were seen by very few people - either they're political propaganda aimed at the US or they're niche films. No one will remember the name of the Best Picture winner a week from now, just as no one remembers the 2013 or 2012 winners.

Hollywood's money makers in 2014 - the films that allow the studios to indulge in money-losing vanity pictures prattling about the evils of America - will once again be escapist fare based on comic books: the '300' sequel or the summer X-Men flick. It says a great deal about Hollywood creativity that the only ideas to be found involve recycling either cliche-ridden political tracts or comic books.

Well, you’re right. Almost dead silence. I was half way watching, but only because DrO had the damn thing on...lol. I paid the most attention of the night to Matthew McConaughey, because I like him.

Ellen and her pizza made me sick. I don’t find her funny and I don’t like her. Harrison Ford sure didn’t want to pay...lol. Isn’t he a huge, idiot libtard who also believes in global warming? Cheap b#stard.

It greatly upsets the Hollywoodphiles when you poo-poo their big night.

Loved the Wizard tribute. I had never seen Garland’s son. They had all three kids there.

I liked Nebraska and the performances very much, but I’m an old guy.

After you’ve seen Roots what else is there to see. Felt the same way about the aids movie.

Before I check out here’s my favorite Oscar line.

Bob Hope hosting:

“Welcome to the Oscars or as they call it at my house Passover.”

For you younguns, Hope invented the job of host and no one has touched him since. He was always joking about never getting an Oscars for his schlocky movies.

It was perfused w usual liberal corrected language and awards but tgey saluted heroes

The equate m mc conaughys character (aids) with lincoln and serpico in the montage

And they did it again. Cpt America appeared Thor iron man

The hero movies don’t make the grade but these guys notice they get the ratings and the box office

There were expressions of love, a little room for God, and no anger I told the kids here who wanted to know, of BO were not well into a sixth year and Romney were in, hatred would be all it

The speeches were short and nonpolitical
As it is, I said, there is a particular, if not apology for the disaster that isBO, a resignation that he is not beloved; i said you won’t be seeing mooch this yr. and that was correct

I adore Sandra bullock and Ellen was simply i obnoxious and sometimes laugh out loud

But I saw blue jasmine. And Cate Blanchett is not guilty of theft. She was brilliant

While I've been as complete a studier of motion pictures as any, I'm proud to say I haven't endured a televised Oscar ceremony in more than 40 years.

Devoted a lot of thought to estimating that, this evening, when asked, and was actually quite surprised.

Probably began after George C. Scott turned down the Best Actor prize, awarded for "Patton," calling the ceremony "a meat parade."

And I also think determining the best estimate of the numbers of people who actually watch the live festivities and calculating the real percentage of Americans who actually watch this "circle jerk" might surprise us.

Seth McFarlane, as liberal as he is, was a much better host.
