Howie thread for the month starting with his 3/2/14 column about Kerry Kennedy, "Hooray! Justice is served" ("Mary Jo Kopechne could not be reached for comment.")
Hooray! Justice is Served!
by Howie Carr, Boston Herald 3/2/14
Of course Kerry Kennedy was acquitted.
How many times have you read the headline: Ethel Kennedy Appears in Court for (fill in the name of this months family defendant)? A couple of days later the inevitable follow-up headline appears: Kennedy Acquitted.
After the jury found her not guilty Friday on drugged-driving charges in Westchester County, N.Y., Kerry Kennedy said, Im just very, very, very grateful that justice was done.
And she should know something about justice, because she runs the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights.
Shes a human rights advocate. Nice work if you can get it.
Kerry is one of the Beautiful People. She once wrote a book titled Speak Truth to Power. From what we know now about her, a more appropriate title might have been, Slur Truth to Power.
Oh sure, over time the Kennedy family M.O. has evolved. The clans drug of choice used to be Chivas Regal, now its Ambien. It used to be just the Kennedy men cheated on their spouses. Now its the women too Kerry got caught with a polo player.
(Her lawyers described her as a devout Catholic, which by Kennedy standards, she may well be. After she dumped her polo player boy toy, Kerry penned another book, Being Catholic Now.)
But like all Kennedys down through the ages, she couldnt pass the field sobriety test. And of course the traditional thick-Irish-brogue priest appeared as a character witness. Somewhere, Msgr. Jeremiah P. OMahoney of St. Edwards Church in Palm Beach must be smiling.
And naturally the familys bloody shirt was waved. Her father, Daddy, was murdered when she was 8 years old. He was running for president.
Her uncle, JFK, was the president who famously said, A rising tide lifts all boats.
Her other uncle, Teddy, never became president, because he famously found out that a rising tide does not lift all Oldsmobiles.
Her lawyer was Gerald Lefcourt, who took time out from his usual practice of defending Black Panthers, rap moguls, crooked Albany pols and junk-bond billionaires to represent the former Mrs. Andrew Cuomo.
In a raspy voice that makes her sound more like Ethanol than Ethel Kennedy, Kerry thanked her hired guns, saying, incredibly, Most people dont have access to that and we need to take a hard look at our criminal justice system in the United States to make sure that it really is just and that everyone, everyone in our country has true access to justice.
Mary Jo Kopechne could not be reached for comment.
Rudyard Kipling wrote that There comes a night when the best get tight. With the Kennedys, it seems to happen more and more often in the morning. But whats the big deal? Oh sure, Ethanol Kennedy rear-ended a truck, blew out a tire and then rode on the rim of her Lexus SUV wheel for miles on an interstate before finally slamming into a guard rail.
But unlike her uncle, she didnt drown anybody. Unlike her brother, she didnt cripple anybody. On a Kennedy-family scale of 1-to-10, this fender-bender barely rated a 2.
Friday morning, as Ethel and Ethanol walked away from the bank of microphones in front of the Westchester courthouse, a reporter yelled out a final question: What are you going to do now?
Celebrate Ethel replied.
Another Kennedy beats the rap! Neck braces on the house!
“Her uncle, JFK, was the president who famously said, A rising tide lifts all boats.
Her other uncle, Teddy, never became president, because he famously found out that a rising tide does not lift all Oldsmobiles.”
Literary genius.
In a feudal society, such as Sicily, Ireland, Poland, the England of Henry VIII, and Massholia under the Kennedy Klan, the nobles offer those whom the Lord hath placed beneath them a modicum of food, clothing, shelter, meaningful work, and protection from Viking raiders. Since there are no longer any Viking raiders, this last has been replaced by entertainment.
Since the nobles are empowered to steal from the merchant class, there isn't even any need for many of the peasants to work. All is provided in exchange for adulation. People like this Carr creature are nothing more than heretics. They are a danger to the realm and must be suppressed, faggots piled around their feet, and toasted on the stake.
Amen.

Sorry. Thought I heard a call for an encore.
“bravo! ENcore!”
there. I saved you.
Besides looking like Lou Ferrigno and sporting an IQ that will never break triple digits, Andy got no like ... personality.
All in all, they were pretty well matched. No offspring, thank Darwin.
You are my hero. I promise never to swim beyond the surf line again! Next time I see Howie out for drinks in Yarmouthport, I'll be sure and mention your sterling efforts.

Yesterday's sub - Steve Deace - was pretty good. I was hoping we could hear him again today.
The two ladies who filled in on Monday and Tuesday weren't bad, but I couldn't listen to them for 5 straight days.
McScreamer?? Thanks a lot, Howie. Radio is off! :-(
Yeah though I did listen to McScreamer a little while because of the topic. The two ladies are Boston Herald columnists who are also part of the papers’ online station, Boston Herald Radio. Hadn’t heard of Deace before but he does do a national show.. http://stevedeace.com/radio-affiliates/ is a list of his affiliates (scroll down a bit). Only New Eng affiliate is WGAW AM in Gardner (north central MA) though not sure how accurate that is (WGAW site is http://www.wgaw1340.com and they seem to run Ingraham, Dennis Prager, Dennis Miller, Michael Savage, Mark Levin etc)

Where has Avi Nelson been? Who makes the decisions regarding substitute hosts? The other day Howie made it clear he’s had nothing to do with the losers they’ve been putting on in his absence.
Yes, the tough broad from Eastie. That is a guarantee that I’ll flip to WBUR or WBZ...or perhaps Bloomberg. Last week makes me wonder if a conscious decision has been made not to have Avi Nelson back on the station.
Sandy mentioned to Howie on air that Steve Deace won’t be back (he had put on someone “playing” the late Margaret Sanger without mentioning it). Maybe that was decided by RKO management. Years ago Jerry Williams had someone like Jay Charbonneau on playing “the governor” (Dukakis at the time) and they didn’t announce it was an impersonation/comedy bit and some people were troubled by it (couldn’t tell...); same may have happened with Steve Sweeney as Kevin White, the mayah o’ the schitty o’Borston. Oddly enough one day Howie did have Gov Patrick on—the real Gov. Patrick, despite it being April Fools’ Day.
Yeah I don’t know if the RKO bigwigs (guy named Kevin Graham in charge now) put forth the fill ins and I, too, miss Avi. Not sure if he’s on at all. Currently former bosses Jason Wolfe and Julie Kahn are helping out former WEEI host Glenn Ordway who is doing online-only (and XM CH 108 starting Mon.) sports talk Big Show Unfiltered. And since it’s online, you can indeed hear the S and the F words.

I heard Howie “heart like an alligator” moment when both Kahn and Wolfe departed. He does not suffer fools gladly.
Yup! Now to all, today’s Howie column ping
