This thing is pretty much over, before Obama even leaves the Democrat Drinking party tonght.

This is the cost of electing a weak pansy as the U.S. President. It's a damn shame that you will NEVER see the footage of Palin and Romney being proven correct shown on any network evening news broadcast in the U.S.

Too many in the media afraid for their jobs to do that.

“Pre-text”

Exactly...
And Putin can do it with the full knowledge that the U.S./Europe will do exactly NOTHING.

(Well, they might not show up for a weekend in June, but this will be old news by then)

Now on BBC, as well:

The prime minister of Crimea has asked Russian authorities for help in maintaining peace in the region.

“I appeal to the president of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, to provide assistance in ensuring peace and tranquillity on the territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea,” Serhiy Aksyonov said in a statement.

He also said he was taking control of Crimea’s interior ministry, armed forces, fleet and border guards “on a temporary basis”.

“All commanders are to obey only my orders and instructions,” Mr Aksyonov said. “I ask all those who refuse to do so to resign.”

Whew .... resign ... “All commanders are to obey only my orders and instructions,” Mr Aksyonov said. “I ask all those who refuse to do so to resign.” This is going downhill faster than Benghazi. Bet China is chomping at the bit. I thought there was one horse yet to ride but the devil may have other ideas.

Breaking updates from RT-RussiaToday:

Saturday, March 1

07:18 GMT:

The Crimean premier, Sergey Aksenov, has declared that firearms have been used in the clashes in the region, Itar-Tass news agency reported.

He said he will be managing all national security forces in the region, and has asked Russia’s President Vladimir Putin for help in ensuring peace in Crimea.

06:17 GMT:

The Supreme Council of the Crimean Autonomous Republic has decided to create a special Berkut law enforcement unit, Unian news agency reported. Berkut was the name of the national crack security force that was disbanded after the rioting in Kiev over allegations that the rallies were cracked down on.

05:42 GMT:

Ukraine’s interim president, Aleksandr Turchinov, has appointed a former TV presenter for Kiev-based Channel 5, Viktoria Syumar, as deputy secretary of the Council for National Security and Defense.

05:41 GMT:

The US State Department has warned American citizens against trips to Crimea, Donetsk and Kharkov, due to “instability following Yanukovich’s ouster and the organization of the new government,” it said in a statement.

03:48 GMT:

The Supreme Council of Crimea has established a local “Berkut” special forces unit to protect public order on the Peninsula who will obey the regional authorities’ orders exclusively, Deputy Prime Minister Rustam Temirgaliev wrote via Facebook.

“Yesterday, late in the evening I met with Berkut fighters who agreed to establish a Crimean special unit,” he wrote, adding that the Supreme Council already signed the order.

Too many in the media afraid for their jobs to do that.

Many have asked the lame-stream, all along, why they would not report the truth; advising them that it is their Children and Grandchildren being put at risk and in harms way by the obama crowd and not simply ordinary Americans being put at risk and in harms way by the obama crowd. But no report. They (the media) have been completely silent. It maybe is too late for the media to start stating the truth; for they too and their Children and Grandchildren are at grave risk. May their (the media's) Children and Grandchildren curse them for supporting the obama crowd.

You said: “....And Putin can do it with the full knowledge that the U.S./Europe will do exactly NOTHING...”

Yep. What should we do??! Putin is a democratic elect president just as it is the German chancellor Merkel or the US President. Many people in the west might not like him, but we have no reason to declare war on Russia, just because they elected a president that is not our string puppet. Besides - their “invasion” of the Crimea is something quite understandable to me since 58.5 % of the people living there are ethnic Russians. Imagine a area that is inhabited by 58.5 % Americans undergoing such political changes. We would see bazillons of lethernecks and aircraft carriers there. You Americans have a disposition for martial appearances.

Janukowich -like it or not- was the last democratic elect president of the Ukraine. Since the Ukraine is a deeply devided country with two different ethnic groups that hate each other, it is quite logical that there will be winners and loosers in such a gouverment change. BTW I understand the Russians that they do not want to live under Ukrainian regime. The best thing for them would be a divorce. The Czechs and the Slovaks made it, even the Jews and the Arabs are thinking about it. It would be not the end of the world.

Living in the Ukraine I would rather think about the question if the Russkis are willing to give their gas away for free in the future. It could get quite cold next winter...

Best regards from good old central Europe

Andreas

Hehe! Austria is a funny thing, since there is -historically- no real Austrian identity. I am living in southern Germany and someone from Vienna is ethnically much closer to me than someone from Berlin i.e.. The national identity of Germany is also quite young. Born in the 1870/71-war against France. The “small” German solution of a Germany without contemporary Austria was a controversial matter in both countries. Hitler used that difficult situation for his -devilish- intentions in 1938.

Even today the German question is still in dispute among some Austrians. After the German reunification the German magazine “Der Spiegel” made a survey among Austrians. 38% were for a merger with Germany back then.

Nevertheless nobody that is not insane would question the contemporary boarders.

But this has really absolutely nothing to do with the Ukraine today.
