King Cove is near the end of the Alaska Peninsula, so it is pretty far south. And the indigenous people there are Aleuts, not Eskimos. But the weather there can get really atrocious. Having grown up in Cold Bay, I totally agree the road is needed to save live and the environmental impact would be minuscule.

I have a friend who has to go to King Cove on a regular basis...she gets out of there by bribing boats to carry her to Cold Bay.
