During the 2008 presidential campaign, Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin warned that if Senator Barack Obama were elected president, his "indecision" and "moral equivalence" may encourage Russia's Vladimir Putin to invade Ukraine.
Palin said then:
"After the Russian Army invaded the nation of Georgia, Senator Obama's reaction was one of indecision and moral equivalence, the kind of response that would only encourage Russia's Putin to invade Ukraine next."
For those comments, she was mocked by the high-brow Foreign Policy magazine and its editor Blake Hounshell, who now is one of the editors of Politico magazine.
In light of recent events in Ukraine and concerns that Russia is getting its troops ready to cross the border into its neighboring nation, nobody seems to be laughing at or dismissing those comments now.
Hounshell wrote then that Palin's comments were "strange" and "this is an extremely far-fetched scenario." "And given how Russia has been able to unsettle Ukraine's pro-Western government without firing a shot, I don't see why violence would be necessary to bring Kiev to heel," Hounshell dismissively wrote.
Palin made her remarks on the stump after Obama's running mate Joe Biden warned Obama supporters to "gird your loins" if Obama is elected because international leaders may test or try to take advantage of him.

"Why, Oh why, isn't SHE in the White House instead of the current feckless resident".
Georgians and Ukrainians are begging for an answer....
Because people bought the PDS BS and got what they asked for. Sure, she’s not perfect. I get that. But people were quick to embrace EVERY piece of BS thrown at the wall in her name.
So now we all suffer with a GOP that works to elect all the people that trashed her.
Yes, Twitter, Sarah Palin totally called this exact Ukraine scenario 6 years ago

Yes, I could see this one from Alaska. I'm usually not one to Told-Ya-So, but I did, despite my accurate prediction being derided as an extremely far-fetched scenario by the high-brow Foreign Policy magazine. Heres what this stupid insipid woman predicted back in 2008: "After the Russian Army invaded the nation of Georgia, Senator Obama's reaction was one of indecision and moral equivalence, the kind of response that would only encourage Russia's Putin to invade Ukraine next."
She should beat that horse into sub-atomic dust. Because she deserves to. All her media detractors should be held to their words.
And so should FR’s PDS club. Because they are uniquely responsible for the greater media pointing and saying “See? Even the far right thinks she’s nits!”
No, GOP sycophants pretending to be conservatives thought that. And so they should take the credit they so righteously earned.
And I hope they choke on it.
They wiil eventually..
The question is: How many of us will they take down with them....
wasn’t a treaty or promise signed by the US/NATO regarding the protection of Ukraine if they gave up their nukes?
The answer is there already. All of us. Their petty BS, their preference for ‘lesser evils’ who they said could ‘win’ have resulted in the world we live in today.
They couldn’t dispute her statements or logic. They couldn’t honestly say she was ‘wrong’ about much if anything. So instead they adopted liberalism, trashed her personally and elected the “very people” on both side of the Uniparty aisle that spent millions to discredit her.
Look what they won! They got exactly what they asked for. They should be proud.
media will just ignore, or double down and lie/mock her more.
Truth will NEVER win with the left.
Speaking to the Democratic National Committee Friday night, President Obama defended his right to use executive authority and mocked Republicans for their obsession with the Affordable Care Act.
Obama leavened his sharp policy message—which focused on increasing the minimum wage and expanding health care access—with moments of levity, telling the crowd at the Capital Hilton, “Well, it’s Friday. It’s after 5:00. So this is now officially happy hour with the Democratic Party.”
As the group laughed and applauded, the president added, “I can do that. It is an executive action. I have the authority.”
“Our job not just as Democrats, but as Americans, is to restore opportunity for all,” he said. “That’s why we’re in this. Those are our values.”
And during the speech an audience member yelled at one point, “Tell the public your plan — tell us about your plan for nuclear war with Russia!”
Obama downplayed the matter, saying, “What the heck are you talking about?” The audience then drowned out the heckler with chants of “Obama. Obama. Obama. Obama.”
Just shows how stupid she is.
Since they told Kerry that for public release, and then immediately and publicly confirmed the opposite, it appears that they took the opportunity to bitch-slap Kerry as impotent and irrelevant.
As far as I’m concerned, Palin hits the bulls eye more than any other on the public scene. Love ya gal.
That’s funny.
Sadly I have to agree. They destroyed a good woman and THIS is what they gained.
They deserve everything the got!(and more)
