U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, facing a field of GOP primary candidates running at him mainly from the right, set the bar low for next Tuesdays election, telling Texas reporters that his main goal is to avoid a runoff.
My goal is to win the election without a runoff, and I think well achieve that goal, he said in a phone conference Wednesday. He added: I realize runoffs are a unique animal unto themselves, and my goal is to win without a runoff, and of course Ill enjoy every vote I get above that.
Cornyn reminded the press corps that hes had some experience with runoffs.

It’s time for John to retire. I voted to assist in this worthy goal.
I’m sitting here in Georgia that Cornyn’s electoral hopes are drowned in a virtual sh!t Tsunami of voter discontent.
So much so that he is far below the 50% and that another primary challenger actually goes above it. He deserves the worst humiliation a human can get, and for him, a politician, a rebuke of this kind would be DEVASTATING.
With any luck, there WILL be a runoff...
And Cornyn will not be a finalist.
I cast my vote AGAINST Cornyn yesterday. I went with Stovall over Stockman, although I’ll be fine with either. Mainly made my choice because Stovall seemed to work a bit harder for the vote, and I was a little worried about Stockman’s propensity for being a loose cannon and saying something impolitic that might deep-six his candidacy.
Also, happily voted AGAINST the amnesty-leaning Bush for land commissioner. Don’t know a single thing about Watts, but there’s no way I’m ever giving a Bush one of my votes again. Even if Bush wins the primary, he still won’t get my vote. Same for Cornyn. I’ve had it with the GOP-E crowd. My vote only exists to bludgeon them, after the backstabbing treatment they gave to Palin and the Tea Party. Only solid tea-party candidates for me.

If it goes to a runoff Cornyn is TOAST and he knows it!
I’m with you on this!
My acid test is pretty simple.
Is this guy fit to stand along side of Senator TED CRUZ? If not, no dice.
Although a tea party challenge by U.S. Rep. Steve Stockman, R-Clear Lake, has received a ton of national press, Cornyn appears to enjoy a comfortable lead in the race, even if primary elections are notoriously difficult to predict.
Four more days and we’ll know!
I like your thinking!
Right now, polling I’ve seen so far in today’s poll is 40% Cornyn, 60% Others. This was not the case when the polling was being conducted a week ago.

greene, you did good!! Make sure your friends and family get out and do their duty also.
Texan Freepers, get busy! I wish I was in Texas with you to do a part.
Question from the frozen tundra to the north: Are primaries in Texas open to all or only for registered party members?
They are open, but you have to state whether you are voting in the Republican primary or the Democrat primary.
When I was asked that question at the voting precinct, I stated “Well, until there is an official Tea Party, I’ll have to go with the Republican primary, I guess.”
Good! Our expectations of Cornball were tamped way down after he voted for BIG spending, threw out a life line to the Gang of 8 amnesty and funded 0Care...oh, and when he turned his back on Sen Cruz’ filibuster, too.
Texas does not have registered party members. You declare your party when you go to vote. The only limitation is that you cannot vote in one party’s runoff election if you voted in the other party’s original election.
I don’t think any of the articles about the election I’ve read have mentioned Stovall as a contender.
Cornyn is one of the slickest and very manicured Senators. He looks like he sees the barber twice a week and wears $2000 suits
Slick slick slick not to be trusted in a million years

LOL...I told our poll workers, after they asked me that question, “Normally, Republican, but I’m not sure! I’m not too happy with them, right now”. They sort of chuckled.
Right now, polling Ive seen so far in todays poll is 40% Cornyn, 60% Others.
