U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, facing a field of GOP primary candidates running at him mainly from the right, set the bar low for next Tuesdays election, telling Texas reporters that his main goal is to avoid a runoff.
My goal is to win the election without a runoff, and I think well achieve that goal, he said in a phone conference Wednesday. He added: I realize runoffs are a unique animal unto themselves, and my goal is to win without a runoff, and of course Ill enjoy every vote I get above that.
Cornyn reminded the press corps that hes had some experience with runoffs.

Mapp has picked up support because of his wetback statements and Cornyn’s condemnation. He’s now #3 behind Stockman in the polling that’s out there this morning.
Thank you, jim, for the ping.
Obviously, Cornyn needs every vote he can get, and playing the “underdog” role probably helps.
I am not following the depressing popular msm polling, but I do follow your own more hopeful polling sources.
Surely, surely, we can pull off a run-off at least. Probably, Stovall is by all reports, less risky in a run off, though anyone can blow up their own opportunity.
Cornyn can be slick at election time, as always, and Stockman may be all zeal with little or no campaign finess. We have to get votes in a state wide campaign. Maybe Stovall can bring some voters along, beyond only the base?
Cruz was more than a conservative ideolog— he was a vote getter, and a very high caliber campaigner. We need more of those types representing conservatives so well.
Stovall got my vote.... Scrooge Cornholio__but if he wins I have to vote for him against the DemRat. What’s ya gonna doos..
Not yours alone my dear!
Mapp’s comments really shook up the polling. Now it won’t affect all the early voters, but this could be fun. Cornyn is now polling below 50% and closer to 40% right now.
I vote just like you, for the same reasons, and will vote for whoever runs against Cornyn.

That is how our primaries run as well. So followup question.....has there been any rumblings about the enemy crossing the lines to “help” Cornyn?
I dont think any of the articles about the election Ive
read have mentioned Stovall as a contender.
*************
Here is some recent Stovall support.
Not that I’ve heard. In a way, I don’t think the Dems really grasp how noxious the conservative base finds Cornyn. They seem be a bit behind the curve on that. So, it’s not quite the equivalent to Lindsay Graham or John McCain, for example, where one would expect lots of Dems to swoop down and vote in the GOP primary.
Maybe it’s also because so much of Cornyn’s RINO and backstabbing ways are far more “behind the scenes” compared to some others. The Dems just aren’t as cognizant of the situation.
Big margin of error, but I’ll post this morning’s polling numbers anyway just for fun:
Cornyn 37%
Stockman 33%
Mapp 17%
Registered Voters
I’ll update when things get a little more stable and I’ll show the other guys.
Are they even asking about stovall???
I can’t remember the Hispanic female candidate, who had surprisingly high numbers in one poll. Is Mapp the name of this woman?
Thx, much for the kool aid. I am drinking it in, while I can. ;) Rita
Linda Vega. Sorry, I hadn’t dropped down on the thread far enough.
lol it would make quite the stir if a latina candidate advocated shooting the border-jumpers on sight.
LOL!
But, who did say that?
