WASHINGTON (AP) The sniping between establishment Republicans and tea partyers resumed Thursday as Texas Sen. Ted Cruz refused to endorse his state's senior senator in next week's Republican primary.
Sen. John Cornyn, the Senate's second-ranking Republican leader, faces tea party-backed Rep. Steve Stockman in Tuesday's election. Cruz declined to tell reporters how he plans to vote
"I am not supporting any of the senators from my party or their opponents" in this year's primaries, Cruz said, adding that he might change his mind later.
Cruz, a tea party favorite and potential 2016 presidential candidate, has infuriated fellow Republicans by forcing uncomfortable votes on issues such as the debt, and by raising money for conservative groups trying to defeat veteran Republicans, including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky.
Cruz's comments are especially notable because he is a vice chairman of the GOP committee tasked with winning Senate elections. He criticized the committee's track record and policy of virtually always backing incumbents.

Ah yes, the team of the beltway that doesn't care about the people of this country, their well being and their Constitution. They only care about the money we send to pay their bloated lifestyles.
Personally I don't want Cruz to be a "team player", I want someone to actually represent the people of this country.
To understand what is happening to the nation's political temperament and to the republican party people should read "This Town -two parties and a funeral" by Mark Liebovich. It is an insiders look at the dirty rotten underbelly of American culture we think of as our capitol.
Sounds like a must read. Will scope it out.
Looks like I need to get this book, soon! Thanks for the head’s up!
Being a malcontent on a team that kisses commie butt like the GOP-E does is not a bad thing in my view.
Thank you both for your replies!
I’ll be looking at the FR posts this evening. Based on what I read on FR, I think I would have voted for Stovall, too — seems like a good guy and a Constituional Conservative (my kind of man); and, from what I’ve read, it appeared that Stockman didn’t do much campaigning around the state.
When Cornyn was first elected I was excited as he was a former judge, seemed conservative, etc. and thought he would do well for us. Unfortunately, it seems he drank the GOPe Kool-Aid.
BTW - I’m a bit of a political junkie and am especially interested in Texas, I suppose due to its conservative leaning (yes, I know you have a few Dim reps and mayors - SJL, Castro, etc.) as well as the overall patriotism of most Texans. Perhaps I watch Texas elections a bit vicariously as it’s quite different up here in the Pacific NW (God’s country for beauty, but alas not for our political so called “leaders”). If all of my family didn’t live here, I would seriously consider moving to Texas.
Best of luck today with all of your primaries!
p.s. I’ve adopted Senator Cruz as *my Senator* (hope you don’t mind). I could listen to him for hours (and literally have!). I need something beside my 2 Senators -Maria Can’t Do Well and Patty Osama Mama Murray (voted as dumbest Senator on more than 1 occassion).
