I took ambien once to get to sleep, and I can’t understand how anyone would think it’s a good idea to get into a car after taking it. 5 minutes after taking I was lucky to get to the bedroom.

My wife tried it once, woke up in the middle of the night, went in the kitchen, cooked a complete meal, went back to bed, got up the next morning and remembered nothing. If the house and car keys had not been hidden in an unusual place just in case of such a reaction, she could well have sleepwalked to the car and then sleep-drove.
