As a Baptist I speak from the heart ... there are Baptist and then there are baptist. I hope he is a born again Baptist, washed in the blood of Jesus and true to his calling. If so the Ukraine has a chance.

Yes, you are correct. I, too, hope he is a true, committed Christian believer. He does have a reputation for honesty and integrity.
That’s definitely a thumb in the eye of Putin. Russia is trying to outlaw non-Orthdox Chritian denominations.
I don’t know, but they’ve certainly shown a lot of courage in the past months. Much more than our politicians and leadership here. They might amaze all of us! I pray so. I honestly don’t know if they actually seek to be part of the EU, or just have ties to it without being a member nation. I hope they feel strong enough to try to stand on their own.

Ukrainian Baptists are known to be very evangelistic. Ukraine sends many missionaries to Russia to evangelize the Russian people. There are many Christian schools within Ukraine. I have met a few of these young missionaries within Russia and I was impressed with their commitment to Jesus Christ.
I plan on being in DC on May 16th.

He was born in Soviet Union, so everyone was a commie in the 70’s. He’s not one now.
But he speaks Russian, so it might not be. More likely its an olive branch to the Russian population.
