Has anyone seen any signs that people in blue states may be turning away from the big government ideology that has controlled these states for so many decades? Any discussions with relatives, neighbors or friends who are Democrats?
You, TOO!?!?!? I was beginning to question my sanity!
You should both be questioning your sanity, your eyesight, or your standards, or maybe all three...
Now, I'm ashamed of the GOP. Especially here in CA. We used to be the heart and soul of the "western (l)ibertarian" wing of the GOP. Hoover, Nixon, Reagan...and a little bit of the Arizonan Goldwasser.
We'll claim him as he used to golf with Bob Hope in Palm Springs:)
A problem, or two, with many Massachusetts voters is that the men tend to work in unionized industries and thus vote Democrat because they are told it benefits them. the women are just angry and not appealing in any sense of the word.
I live in one of those blue states and the lefties seem to be digging in even more. That said, something is in the air. The Democrats are sensing fear. Why else would longtime liberals like Henry Waxman, George Miller, and now John Dingell bail from their lifetime Washington jobs? Maybe wishful thinking but when you have three powerful house libs with well over 100 years of experience decide to split town then one has to believe the Democrats are in deep trouble in November.
Not only no, but from what little I’ve seen and read is that their hatred of conservatism ensures they will vote against us.
As I said in another post, 2 Nations masquerading as one. It’s all just a numbers game now. Neither side is ever going to think like the other and both sides are bent on the destruction of the other.
It’s ugly, but it is true.
I’m in MA too.
Do not see any change at all except many, many Conservatives have left the state.
I live in a MA town filled to the brim with pinch faced angry women with dozens of bumper stickers on their cars.
The numbers of hard core liberals here is through the roof.
Most folks are unfriendly, kids mouth off to their parents, people do not clean the snow off their car roofs ( sometimes their hoods ), they have no problem telling you what you ordered for food is unhealthy.
This is a wealthy town with just flat out mean, rude people.
“No!”
I would tend to disagree. My wife has always been a Democrat, say she may never vote that way again and voted for Romney in the last election. Liberal college friends are silent on all issues raised, healthcare, national security, unemployment. Nothing to say....
They are seeing the folly, some of them anyway.
I know a die hard liberal, who claims he’s a moderate, whose biggest argument is “The republicans never did a thing for the working man.” I never could get him to tell me what the republicans were supposed to do. I haven’t talked to him in a long time.
I live in the State of Washington. I don’t see any prospect of Jim McDermott losing in Seattle, or Adam Smith or Denny Heck in their districts. Or Patty Murray or Maria Cantwell losing their seats in the Senate.
Liberals have been constrained by the State Constitution which puts a brake on corruption (but not idiocy). The voters just don’t hold our representatives responsible for national problems. And of course our conservative bright stars have been wiped out by endless recounts in King County.

America needs to repent...nothing else will save them. Certainly not politicians. Only Yeshua.
Any discussions with relatives, neighbors or friends who are Democrats?
Relatives that are liberal I refuse to talk to. I won’t argue with idiots.
Friends of mine are all veterans and hate anything liberal.
Neighbor changed his mind after facts were put up against every argument he had. He’s 78.
Yeah, same here in Western PA.
I wish the Conservatives could change this thinking to what is the truth: namely,
"Democrats (Liberals) want you to remain the little guy, Republicans (Conservatives) want you to become rich and independent."
And when Peter is out of money, Paul whines that Peter is “unfair” and then kills him.
Yeah there have been a few convictions like the guys who ran the fake tea party scam and there were charges in the highland park mayoral race. We’ve also got strict policies in place now that require strict oversight and auditing of traditionally problem areas.
I personally attribute Detroit’s first white mayor (D) in a half century to our secretary of state forcing them to play by the rules. The powers that be wouldn’t allow him on the ballot so he ran as a write in in the primary and won by a wide margin. The Detroit canvassers stripped him of some 40% of his vote for no apparent reason but the state made them count them. He went on to win the general election.
There is considerable support for doing away with our winner take all presidential elections and awarding electoral votes according to district won. It removes the incentive to cheat.
The smart people have moved out......
So liberals are smart?
After all, if all the smart people moved out, the state should be bluer than ever.
I think the problem isn’t the strength of Wa Democrats, it’s the weak sauce the “moderate” GOP brings to the table every election. Why vote for a party that politely allows Democrats to define them?
