of course ‘Hispanics’ are there in droves. You apparently don’t understand my point to you. I won’t bother to translate since English is not your mother tongue.
What is it with the barbs? No, I DON’T understand your point. What is it? Spit it out.
First I’m told that because I live in MD, I can’t possibly understand the Hispanic issue. Now it’s “of course” there are lots of Hispanics here... so I can’t understand.
See #99. I’d appreciate a straightforward answer.
Meinst du das, oder sagst du das nur?
BTW, students should learn other languages for the same reason they learn math. Trains the mind, and besides, teaches one more about one's mother tongue. English for example is a kind of Germanic/Nordic sort of French-Latin hybrid.
Example: Fifty years ago, one rarely hear even the dumbest HS Grad confusing "drank" and "drunk" or "ran," and "run." Now many get the past participles wrong, and jes between you and I, objects and subjects.
Oh yeah, Math? Fuggedaboutit.
When traveling in East Africa, heart patients should know the following phrase in Swahili.
"Chest" = matitty
"Pain," = Inaringa
"I have Chest Pain" =Matitty inaringa.
Practice, practice.
“If a nurse does not understand English then she can not understand what the majority of this country would be telling her as patients.”
Right. And that’s what makes it total madness. Literally putting political correctness above the welfare of the patient. Would that not be dereliction of duty?
Except of course in this case quite often this is done to accommodate those who are here illegally and/or are too lazy to learn our language. Personally I can think of dozens of better uses of time, with dozens alone falling under the rubric of studying ones profession and getting better at it.
Actually the hospitals by law need legal translators to not get sued in anything anybody signs.
