Now, plot quality of food the same way. Should be a correlation.

Once you leave the US, owning a home becomes difficult if not impossible so the car becomes the biggest expense, food is next.

You think the US is hated now...
Wait until the rest of the world understands what the CONSTANT printing of money has done to accelerate this process... Not just from our FED but all the central banks...
There will be a race to see which bankers and politicians can be hung the fastest...

Do you actually think “the rest of the world” as in the average guy on the street will ever realize what is causing their distress? I think you give people far too much credit.

Assuming that the average American family receives over $5,000 per month. It's true that far less than 10% of a month's income spent on food isn't much.

Probably the price of corn.
Farmers get more to turn it into fuel than food.

Most of the “food” available on the US market is over processed crap. Most Americans don’t have the vaguest idea where their food comes from. And, most of the food is ridiculously overpriced for the nutritional content. Get to know your local farmers, and support them by purchasing quality locally grown and raised livestock and produce.
As a defense, I lived a lot of years in farm country, and I can tell you, what you get from the local farmers is WAY better than anything you could buy from a store.

As the above chart shows, you’re absolutely correct!

I want to thank the farmers, pickers and truckers for the WONDERFUL Cali-strawberries this winter!
How they can be grown, processed, and sold on the east coast for only $1.99 lb.....I'll never know. But *THANK YOU*!

I don’t believe people in the US spend 35K per person for food.
That’s $700 a week PER CAPITA.
I must be reading the chart wrong, wouldn’t be the first time...
