Many first became acquainted with George Takei as Sulu on the original Star Trek TV series, but for a number of years the actor has been an outspoken left-wing, and particularly gay-rights, activist.
On Friday Takei switched his phasers on stun and penned a pointed Raising Arizona letter in reaction to the state legislatures passage of a bill many view as anti-gay.
Calling it the turn away the gay bill, Takei promised a ground-shaking degree of trouble, including boycotts, if the measure is signed by Gov. Jan Brewer, The Raw Story noted.
Your taxi drivers can refuse to carry us. Your hotels can refuse to house us. And your restaurants can refuse to serve us, stated Takeis letter, which appears on his blog. Youre willing to ostracize and marginalize LGBT people to score political points with the extreme right of the Republican Party.
Proponents of the bill see it as a protection for businesses that dont want to serve LGBT people on religious grounds, but Takei writes that no one is fooled. When I was younger, people used Gods Will as a reason to keep the races separate, too. Make no mistake, this is the new segregation, yours is a Jim Crow law, and you are about to make yourself ground zero.
Gov. Jan Brewer vetoed similar legislation in 2013, but The New York Times reported that its not clear if she will support the latest bill.
If she does, Takei writes, make no mistake. We will not come. We will not spend. And we will urge everyone we knowfrom large corporations to small families on vacationto boycott. Because you dont deserve our dollars. Not one red cent.
Takei noted that after Arizona nixed celebrating the Martin Luther King, Jr.s holiday in 1989, the NFL moved a scheduled Super Bowl from Arizona to Pasedena, costing the state $500 million. Super Bowl XLIX is slated for the University of Phoenix in Glendale in 2015.
Leftists HATE freedom. The idea of freedom offends them.
Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 specifically prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex, race, color, national origin, and religion.
Nothing in the federal law mentions sexual orientation although homosexuals would like to be included as a protected class.
States may add other protected classes.
The Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 adds pregnancy as a protected condition.
Other federal laws passed restrictions on unconditional age discrimination.
Bad news for the Trayvon Fan Club and Marching Society if they have to boycott Arizona Ice Tea to show ‘solidarity’ with their fag brothers and sisters. (Pssst. I know it’s not made in Arizona but the fags and Trayvon worshippers don’t know that. They boycotted it last time.)
Since when did cake become equal to Jim Crow?
Naw. She’s going to Veto it anyway.
“Figuring out what someone’s sexual preference, nationality or religion is before allowing them to be your customer just doesn’t work for me.”
Actually, it would allow folks with genuine religious objections to NOT support what they believe is evil. This has nothing to do with selling a car, but with forced support of gay marriages (as in, you MUST bake a gay marriage cake or be put out of business for not admiring homosexual marriage).
It would also allow someone to refuse to rent a room out to someone they believe will use it for evil - kind of like years ago, when a Mormon guy in Utah refused to rent a basement apartment to a Baptist guy like me.
And instead of suing, I...hold on, this is pretty incredible...I took my business elsewhere! What a concept!
Black Democrats and Hispanics aren't big on homosexualists either.
What was "asking for tolerance" has morphed into "in your face" forced celebration of perversity.
I don't think selling something to homosexuals violates ones religion. Can you imagine homosexuals refusing to do business with people in traditional marriages?
I don't consider homosexuals as married, whatever the government says. Is it any different than catering or providing services to a Halloween party?
Um, he most certainly didn’t circle Myanus.
So you would find no difficulty in focusing a camera and snapping artistic photos of two mans engaged in a lip lock for a wedding album?
I mean, they are paying you, who are you to complain or judge their lifestyle?
Get onboard, everyone must now CELEBRATE same sex couples.
NBC called a married athlete with child and bride an "alternative lifestyle" in this day and age because young heterosexual men just don't get married and raise a family anymore. Of all the nerve.

You do understand that "if one runs a business"--
(unless it is a utility or public transportation...)
As long as mt products & services are legally manufactured & obtained (or created) and leaglly traded...
It is a private enterprise? Yes??
****************
Soooo....
... I think I hear you saying...
I can walk into your upscale, valet-parking, fancy-schmancy, coat & tie required restaurant...
...With no shirt... bad hair... & bad attitude...
...nine pounds of gold chains around my neck....
...flipflops (maybe)... and...
---frayed cargo shorts...
--AND DEMAND TO BE SERVED--
TO HECK WITH YOUR RULES....
...AND TO HECK WITH YOUR CAREFULLY CRAFTED BUSINESS REPUTATION...
...AS A TOP-DRAWER FINE DINING ESTABLISHMENT...
I have money... I am able to pay...
I never leave home without it....
You MUST seat me.... you MUST serve me....
..NOW HOP TO IT...
This is not discriminating.
George Takei, aka Sulu, is the creepiest looking Asian I have ever seen with his face lift......
To go where many men have been before.
Yeah, I think the force was with them or something...
You won’t know unless they tell you.
When homosexuals want cake, it is they who make it an issue.
It is the right of a business to refuse service.
“Can you imagine homosexuals refusing to do business with people in traditional marriages?”
Yes. Would it bother me? No.
Since when has homosexuality become some great human right? It was ILLEGAL thru the 60s.
Can a homosexual force a Christian school to take him in as a student? Can the Baptist Student Union be forced to allow homosexual members? Can a baker be forced to make cakes with “Praise Satan!” on them? If I ran a cleaning service, could I be forced to accept work cleaning a place of worship for Satanists?
Can I be forced by the government to violate my religious beliefs? There was a time the US Constitution said no...
Well, considering gays are only around 2% of the population, I think Arizona will live.
Old george is flaming around again i see
