QUESTION: Is the Ukraine hiding a dark past that has nothing to do with the Russians?
That photo is outside the front of the Ukrainian Parliament building...same place where the “vote” was taken to remove the sitting President.
The Current FReepathon Pays For The Current Quarters Expenses?
That whole region has a dark past for somebody. My great grandfather was a Polish/Russian/Hungarian/Austrian Jew. Jews have been pushed all over Europe with Eastern Europe being the worst.
I personally think the safest place for Jews in Europe at this point is probably Poland.
The Ukrainian situation is very, very dangerous... Much more so than the Yugoslavian problem in the 90s. Unfortunately the United States has a president who is more interested in golfing than world affairs, and he’s likely unable to influence any of the bad possible outcomes in the Ukraine because of his consistent lack of world leadership.
Russia will probably step in at some point. After all, this isn’t some distant Russian cousin having a dispute. This is a country that was run by Russia, a country that has a very large population of Russian ex-patriots and a country who’s stability the Russian economy depends on.
All Putin needs is a clear invitation or some significant incident to act and insert Russian forces. The one flaw that Putin does not possess is indecisiveness and with the free world lacking a real leader, Obama can huff and puff and even throw a tantrum if such a move occurs, but Putin knows in the end that Obama will do nothing.
One thing is for sure, this mess will not be good for Jews or any other minorities in the Ukraine. If I were there, I would be heading for the border as fast as I could.
What makes you think they’re hiding it? It seems pretty much out in plain sight to me.
They were capos in death-camps.
Ukrainians were Hitlers henchmen in WWII
Serbia.
Well, the political party who stand most to gain from a coup of the sitting president is the opposition ultranationalist Svoboda, who are anti-semitic.
Yes, Jews had a “receiving line” of Ukrainians with rubber truncheons to greet them on the way to Babi Yar.
A key bit buried in the wiki article:
Persons of Jewish origin were over-represented in the Russian revolutionaries leadership. However, most of them were hostile to traditional Jewish culture and Jewish political parties, and were loyal to the Communist Party's atheism and proletarian internationalism, and committed to stamp out any sign of "Jewish cultural particularism".Russian author Solzhenitsyn noted: "But it is impossible to find the answer to the eternal question: who is to be blamed, who led us to our death? To explain the actions of the Kiev cheka [secret police] only by the fact that two thirds were Jews, is certainly incorrect."Counter-revolutionary groups, including the Black Hundreds, opposed the Revolution with violent attacks on socialists and pogroms against Jews. There was also a backlash from the conservative elements of society, notably in spasmodic anti-Jewish attacks around five hundred were killed in a single day in Odessa. Nicholas II of Russia himself claimed that 90% of revolutionaries were Jews.
For better or worse, the Ukrainian perception was that Jews were heavily involved in the Communist Party and the secret police, and so blamed them for the atrocities that the Communists inflicted.
Strike that “better or worse”, I must have been writing in a fog.
The Russians are masters of propaganda and Machiavellian intrigues The West never learns.
We knew a U.S. F.S.O. who repeatedly jeopardized his life to help Jewish communities in the Soviet Union. So, naturally, the Soviets painted him as anti-Semitic. He was never able to shake that rep.
I recognize the Ukrainian flag, but what is the other one?
At least there’s safety and many former Jewish Ukrainians in Israel.
