Sierra Club San Diego Chapter suspended
The Sierra Clubs national board voted Friday to suspend its San Diego chapter for four years, a step that leaders said was needed to curb ongoing conflicts and divisions among local activists.
We have one objective, having a healthy, effective, working Sierra Club chapter in San Diego, Sierra Club President Dave Scott said after the vote, saying the board had received many complaints about strife within the chapter.
The organizations leaders have provided few details about the nature of that conflict, but San Diego members and former officials attributed it to the Sierra Clubs micromanagement of its San Diego chapter, refusal to fill key staff positions there and failure to mediate disagreements among local activists. San Diego executive commitee member Donna Tisdale said she believed the suspension was decided long before the board vote on Friday.
Its no surprise to me, she said. Its part of the micromanaging of the local chapters. I assumed from the beginning that it was a done deal. Four years just seemed really extreme to me, though.
Thirteen members of the 15-person board voted for the suspension, a step taken only a handful of times since the environmental organization was founded in 1892. One member voted against it and one abstained, according to Mark Westlund, deputy communications director for the Sierra Club.
Within the next month, the Sierra Club will appoint a seven-member steering committee to lead the chapter through the four-year suspension. Westlund said any San Diego Chapter member, including current and former executive committee members, could apply to serve on the steering committee.

I heard the San Diego chapter president was seen wearing a belt made from a North American yellow-bellied seersucker.
March in lockstep or you’re put on four years double secret probation with a “steering committee” to steer you back in the right direction. LOL! Flippin’ progs. They’re all out of their minds. Retards.
This cartoon is spot on. I attended a conference with several representatives with the US Department of Education.
They each spoke of social justice math!
An old story: Trotskyists vs Leninists vs Stalinists vs Maoists!
There may be some disagreement on immigration policy.
