So how about this simple 2014 campaign idea: The Republicans, as a party, tell the voters that if they keep the House and recapture the Senate, they will immediately push for a three-year moratorium on Obamacare. On all of it: The mandates. The time extensions. The taxes. The regulations. The job losses. The reductions in hours worked. The part-time hiring. The website. The potential taxpayer bailout of insurance companies. The verification of income. The lack of personal security and threat of ID theft. And the whole wet blanket that Obamacare has thrown over the economy and the health-care system. The GOP should simply say, Elect us and we will put a three-year moratorium on all of Obamacare. And then well go back to the drawing board, bringing in Republicans and Democrats, and figure out a better plan.

How about proposing a permanent moratorium?
There is no clean way to kill this abomination. There will be ugly unintended consequences with either a moratorium or a repeal. Get rid of Obamacare now and it is not likely to return. Keep it on life-support with a three-year moratorium and a Democrat President in 2016 resurrects the whole thing and probably makes it worst. Don't presume on the future - if we can kill it now, kill it.
Isn't a moratorium exactly what the Democrats want? They don't want this albatross around their necks in the 2014 mid-term elections or 2016 Presidential election. They keep their prize bill on life-support to be resurrected when the political coasts are clear. They might put up token opposition to the moratorium idea but ultimately they will "reluctantly" come along.
Push for repeal on all fronts and only fall back to a moratorium position if necessary after all attempts at repeal fail. You should never lead with your compromise position.
The elite GOP would love to run on a 3-yr moratorium. Keeps them straddling between in$urance companie$, LIV’s, and the “change-the-tone” idiots.
Politically and economically, this is the dumbest idea since the Stimulus and Obamacare itself.
No, they do not want anything based in law.
They want stuff based in thin air.
We saw the chaos induced by the thoughtless introduction of Obamacare. We don't want to replicate that.
Understand, as well, that many of the features of Obamacare are buried in other, unrelated laws. The "death panels", for example, are in another bill (name escapes). This was done intentionally, simply in order to make Obamacare exceedingly difficult to deconstruct legislatively.
If we are to pull-up Obamacare, root and branch, we must understand a.) that it has many branches and b.) its roots are as tentacles, gripping various segments of society.
Agreed!
