When Venezuelan Dictator Hugo Chavez passed away in 2013, the White House issued the following statement.
At this challenging time of President Hugo Chavezs passing, the United States reaffirms its support for the Venezuelan people and its interest in developing a constructive relationship with the Venezuelan government. As Venezuela begins a new chapter in its history, the United States remains committed to policies that promote democratic principles, the rule of law, and respect for human rights. Now that Chavez' protege Nicolás Maduro is ordering a violent crackdown on thousands of people who dare to speak out against the failures of the communist regime, does the White House still "stand with the people?" Is this the "new chapter" of "policies that promote democratic principles, the rule of law, and respect for human rights" the White House hoped for?
Thousands of supporters and opponents of Venezuelas socialist government have taken to the streets this past week. Initiated by student groups, the protestors are voicing their grievances against soaring crime rates, high inflation, a shortage of basic goods, and a lack of political and economic freedom.
All the while, the Obama Administration has been relatively silent. The occasional press release from the State Department uses the same recycled lines of deep concern that weve come to expect from an indifferent Administration. Not even the expulsion of three U.S. diplomats Sunday evening could elicit a stronger statement.
So far, three people have been killed and hundreds have been arrested and tortured. Some even disappeared thanks to government security forces. Videos, pictures, and eyewitness testimony blame the governing regime for the deaths of two of the victims. Armed with automatic weapons, tear gas, grenades and even tanks, the military and police are using all means to silence the democratic opposition.
We don't know because President Obama won't tell us.
According to the CATO Institute, Maduro's "new" Marxist policies of abolishing property rights, inheritance, centralization of credit to the state and the confiscation of property from immigrants has landed Venezuela 181 out of 189 in the World Bank's 2014 Doing Business ranking. This puts Maduro's country behind Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq.
When Chavez died last year, Obama had a tremendous opportunity to develop a better relationship with Venezuela and for the people living in that country he claimed to care about. Not surprisingly, he blew it. So why the silence?
It's important to remember President Obama is supported by far left groups who have been supporting Venezuela for decades. In 2012, Chavez said he'd vote for Obama.
"I hope this doesn't harm Obama, but if I was from the United States, I'd vote for Obama," Chavez said in 2012. "Obama is a good guy ... I think that if Obama was from Barlovento or some Caracas neighborhood, he'd vote for Chavez."
In 2006, Obama's mentor Bill Ayers traveled to Venezuala to help Chavez celebrate "Socialism of the 21st Century."
Condemning Maduro would be a condemnation and indictment of marxism and far left ideology. You be the judge on why the Commander in Chief isn't jumping to make a serious statement and staying silent.
His silence is DEAFENING, and crickets from him says more about Obama than it does these poor people, putting everything on the line to gain their freedom.
It is also an opportunity to wake people up to what government abuse is. Another point we have to remind people of is that Venezuelans civilians live under absolute gun control. This is what government abuse looks like. Anyone know how to copy the video in this link?
Hugo Chavezs Daughters Refuse to Leave Presidential Party Palace
The late dictator’s children won’t move out of the president’s official residence, which is filled with antiques and priceless art
Its hard times in Venezuela these days. The economy is in shambles, crime is spiraling, and the opposition is leading increasingly strident protests on the streets. To make matters worse, President Nicolás Maduro cant even deal with the crisis from the comforts of the presidential palace.
Constitutionally, of course, Maduro has been able live in La Casona, a luxurious villa in the heart of the capital, since he was sworn in last year. The only problem: Almost a year after Maduros predecessor, Hugo Chávez, passed away, his three grown childrenMaria Gabriela, Rosa Virginia and Hugo Jr.are still living in the villa. Apparently, they have no intention of leaving.
The two daughters have allegedly converted La Casona into a social club for friends of the family. According to recent media reports, neighbors complain of deafening parties. Fast-food restaurants and catering agencies refuse to deliver to the mansion, allegedly, because the Chávez kids have stopped paying their bills. Even concert organizers are complaining; Chavezs daughters allegedly force them to hand over dozens of free tickets so they can share them with their friends. (Both the countrys Information Ministry and the Chávez family were unavailable for comment.)

And if Obama came out and said, "We stand with the people protesting the Maduro regime" what possible difference would it make? Who would give a damn?
I don't know whether to laugh or buy more ammo...
Maybe Obama should send troops to restore the Socialist State in Venezuela. Bring order and kill all of those who are too stupid to see the glories of Progressive Socialism and the worker’s Utopia. Then the troops could come home and force all young people to buy Obama care or face long prison terms on the collective labor farms. They are such Knuckleheads you know—why they might even sing Obama’s praise as they harvest the crops by hand.
The “Indifferent Administration” — excellent description. When it’s not being Indifferent it’s working hard at Screwing Things Up. Indifferent is better, though not by much.
Buy more ammo and laugh.
Socialists and commies are the real selfish and greedy ones.
“In 2006, Obama’s mentor Bill Ayers traveled to Venezuala to help Chavez celebrate “Socialism of the 21st Century.””
He also went to Egypt in support of the Bruthas.
A true enemy of the people.
Also silent is John Mccain who quickly supported every foreign anti-govt protest in the last 3 years.
Your terse comment is very accurate. We need be very concerned about what is happening here. The regime is doing its best now to disarm the public and remove any notion of stand your ground or even self protection from the laws of the land. They are teaching the young that weapons are evil in an effort to overcome popular beliefs by older Americans they are part of our culture evolved from our Constitution.
These are definitely the times that try mens souls especially under the reign of the Satan devil Obama.
He will not do such a thing. He is a socialist and everyone knows it. He will “play dumb” as usual and blame everyone but himself.
OBAMAS TOTALITARIAN COMPULSION
Following on the steps of Castro and Maduro, Obama is tightening his grip on the press, not conformed controlling 95% of the media, Obama is pushing towards the control of the whole 100%.
According to the international group Reporters Without Borders Index of Press Freedom the U.S. ranked 46, falling 13 places from last year.
Great Britain ranks 33, France 39, and Germany 14. Eastern European countries that were once under Soviet domination do fairly well, as the Czech Republic is ranked 13 and Poland is ranked 19.
The top three countries are Finland, Netherlands and Norway.
“Government is not reason, it is not eloquence, it is force; like a fire, a troublesome servant and a fearful master. Never for a moment should it be left to irresponsible action.” - George Washington
“However combinations or associations of [factions] may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely, in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people, and to usurp for themselves the reins of government - destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion.” - George Washington
“Posterity! you will never know how much it cost the present generation to preserve your freedom! I hope you will make a good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in Heaven that I ever took half the pains to preserve it.” - John Adams, Letter to Abigail Adams, 1777
Thomas Jefferson The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.
A prophecy fulfilled:
As democracy is perfected, the office of the President represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day, the plain folks of the land will reach their hearts desire at last and the White House will be occupied by a downright fool and complete narcissistic moron.

Ain't socialism grand? The worst parasite is the elitist parasite.
Thier motto is truly do what I say not as I do. Off with thier heads!
Obama’s actions on the world stage relative to Venezuela, Libya, Syria, Iran etc. seem irrational and quixotic. His actions within the United States have been economic insanity and unconstitutional and strange for the President of the United States. He lies to the people repeatedly and with impunity. He is attempting to silence the press. He is using the government to suppress his political opposition via the IRS, FEC, FCC, Justice Department etc. His EPA is wrecking the electric energy sector. Why would a patriot of our great nation do these things?
His actions are not irrational, quixotic, strange and he IS NOT a Patriot. His actions are perfectly logical if he is a Marxist. The president of the United States is philosophically a Marxist, period
But if he did, what would it accomplish? You honestly think anyone down there would listen to him?
He doesn’t want to have to take a side on the notion of a government slaughtering its political dissidents.
