All of the Maryland victims reported eating soft or semi-soft Hispanic-style cheese that they purchased at different locations of the same grocery store chain. Listeria was later detected in a sample of Caujada en Terron, or fresh cheese curd, purchased at that chain.

Racist cheese?

You know, we really need the government to regulate this. We need an agency to oversee food production and safety standards, so that something like this never happens again.

“Hispanic-style cheese”? Do they mean Mexican cheese? Did I miss a memo as to how we’re not allowed to describe people or things from Mexico as “Mexican” any more?

And if the cheese was locally-made, why not mention that?

Funny, I was just telling someone that I don’t even recall having met a Spanish immigrant from Spain here.

When I lived out west we called it ‘bath tub cheese’

It was sold at all the flee markets and farmers’ market.

Most people knew not to touch it. Not because it was made with raw milk, but because the methods were unsafe.

Antonio Banderas is from Spain, so that’s one. And I think when I was very little I had a friend whose parents came from Spain, but I’m not sure if that’s where they were from. I can’t even remember my friend’s name now.

I propose a new Dept of Cheese Security.

Can you make bathtub gin in the same bathtub that you make bathtub cheese in?
