Parliament voted to free ex-Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko from prison by decriminalizing the article in the criminal procedural code under which she was convicted.
A constitutional majority of 310 lawmakers from a cross-section of different parties, including the Communists, voted for the measure. This makes the legislation veto-proof, preventing President Viktor Yanukovych from blocking the move. Yanukovych is widely blamed for ordering the imprisonment of his political rival.
The bill that parliament passed included other articles of the criminal procedural code that were decriminalized.
Batkivshchyna Party lawmaker Oleksandr Turchynov, a close ally of Tymoshenko and her former deputy prime minister, said the articles were not cancelled but "are being brought in line with European legislation" in accordance with recommendations from multiple international institutions.

“...this country is too busy talking about who is going to be on Fallon...”
Alexander Solzhenitsyn said America “suffers from the spiritual impotence of a life of ease”. Well things are likely to get much more difficult soon.
Criminal charge follow-up would be in order thereafter.
I wouldn't mind see Yanukovych fitted with a hempen necktie. But I want it do be done in a legal and orderly manner.
Hmmm... Same thing happened to Tom Delay. And Denish Dsouza. And Scooter Libby. And ...
I expect to see Ted Cruz charged shortly.
NOT GUILTY!

22.07 EuroMaidan: Extremely tense and emotional events unfolding on Maidan tonight. According to the announced plan for tonight, a funeral service for the men who lost their lives yesterday in battles against the regime was supposed to be held. The three opposition party leaders (Yatseniuk, Klitschko, Tiahnybok), Poroshenko and other politicians were invited onto the stage together with priests. The crowd (40-50 thousand people) whistled at them, and demanded explanations regarding today’s “deal” with Yanukovych. Most people in the crowd are, to put it mildly, not happy that an agreement was signed with the person they see as responsible for 77 dead and several hundred injured civilians. The funeral service was interrupted when one of the coffins was brought directly to the front of the stage during Klitschko’s speech, and the crowd began shouting “who will answer for this?!”. Then a “Sotnia” (unit) commander who had personally fought with riot police during the past days, forced his way onto the stage. His short emotional speech, during which he stressed that his unit was very well armed, ended with an ultimatum to the opposition leaders: either force the President’s resignation by 10 am tomorrow, and renounce your deal with Yanukovych (according to which an election is scheduled for 10 months from now), or this commander’s Sotnia will advance (”storm”) the government quarter. Dmytro Yarosh from the Right Sector then came onto the stage and proclaimed essentially the same thing. It should be noted that this morning, over 1000 Interior Ministry troops were withdrawn from the government quarter, and this afternoon those troops who were from southern Ukraine were transported home. However, significant numbers of well armed government troops remain inside the Presidential Administration and Cabinet of Ministers buildings. It is now clear that the opposition’s “negotiations” are not acceptable to Maidan, and the political leaders are NOT in control. Heaven help us, but I feel we’re in for more bloodshed - soon.

Thanks for keeping me updated. At least Charles I had the guts to stay in England and face the music.
“I think she is very pretty, looked like my mom when she was young (before she went to prison, anyway).
What was your mom convicted of, if you dont mind me asking?”
Whoops.
At least she can lie like a politician. Plenty of pictures on the internet yesterday of armed rebels.
It will be important to follow this development. These are the Regions most likely to support alliance with Russia and the regions which will pull Ukraine apart if it now switches to an EU alliance.
You mom went to prison? / jk
My bad, didnt see your post, lol

So they have finally legalized arson? As one Dutch cop said when they were witnessing overall decline in crime stats since legalizing prostitution and dope: ‘If only they could legalize burglary either so we won’t have any crime at all!’
I wonder if she’ll leave for Germany to get the emergency medical treatment she claims was urgently needed, or whether she’ll experience a miraculous recovery and stick around.
The Euromaidan Protests may have started over a trade agreement dispute, but it’s end could hinge on serious reform of the country’s most brutal police force.

Not interested in the neo-liberal analysis...thanks anyway.
And later in this report said that Tymoshenko could be considered a political prisoner :
“71. The analysis of key issues as presented above, in light of the criteria for the definition of political prisoners in Resolution 1900 (2012), leads to a fairly compelling result, namely that Ms Tymoshenko must be recognised as a presumed political prisoner” (PACE. “Keeping political and criminal responsibility separate” (Doc. 13214). 28 May 2013.)[51]

I would say he’s desperate to save his corrupt posterior from
a Ceausescu tribunal.
