Well said.
I disagree with what Sowell has said, but it is shameful to see some of the comments about him here.

Thanks. I just find the onslaught of charges coming at Sen Cruz incredible. He’s only defending and defining what is great about our nation. Yet, here we have elitist GOP joining the choir with Dems....against him.
This (Geo Washington) piece I excerpted offers a perfect comparison of (what I think) Sen Cruz is up against.

The OP is just as flawed and deluded as Karl Rove, what? only support those that you know a priori have a chance to win?
That is defeatism and ultimately just battered wife syndrome.

I have no problem winning slowly rather than never winning. If it take 2-3 election cycles to populate the GOP with the TEA, that works for me. Fabian socialism is how the left took control of the US.

I have no problem winning slowly; if it takes 10 election cycles to restore the Republic it's fine with me.
My thesis is that electing RINOs is worse than losing; it's exhausting our energy and treasure to put into office people who will ultimately and inevitably stab us in the back. It is electing politicians who will, in our name, enact the policies of the adversary. It is electing people who by virtue of posing as one of us, make themselves immune to effective opposition.
We need a Ted Cruz who will shine such a bright light it will be impossible to hide your true nature and will make a clear distinction between a patriot and a progressive.

Senator Cruz tried to wake up the entire nation, not just some members of the Republican party. That is a good tactic.
As far as replacing party members goes, I’ll opt for any republican over any democrat, which goes against the grain here at FR.

So well is dead right! For the Rs to force another faux shutdown would have bees the height of stupidity.

I agree in principle but something needs to restrain Obama and the socialists in the last two years of his regime. My hope is that as many TEA party candidates as possible will be elected and, where no viable tea party candidates can get on the ballot, we accept GOP members. It committed chair positions away from democrats. Committee chairs decide what gets decided and its key to get those away from democrats. The republic is in a death struggle and, I for one think that electing a substantial number of TEA Party members will deliver a message to even the dullest GOP member.

After all, we dont need another pyrrhic victory where our sole win is the satisfaction of a bunch of egos.
Pyrrhic victory? Sorry, but Cruz forcing a cloture vote isn't a pyrrhic anything. More like burning the poison ivy vine off your oak tree. You can't fight and win when half your team doesn't want to fight or win. And unless we force the poisonous parasite out, it'll continue sapping strength until our tree collapses.
